CONGRATULATIONS Xizohan Hu (HLEC Program, Dr. Jeff McCombs, advisor) presented her research on First-line pembrolizumab in PD-L1 Posive Non-small-cell Lung Cancer: A Cost-effecveness Analysis from a UK Healthcare Perspecveat the Internaonal Society for Phar- macoeconomics and outcomes Research. Zhen Meng, who recently graduated from the PSCI Program (Dr. Sarah Hamm-Alvarez, advisor) published a first-author arcle tled, Interferon-γ treatment in vitro elicits some of the changes in cathepsin S and angen presentaon characterisc of lacrimal glands and corneas from the NOD mouse model of Sjögrens Syndromebased on her doctoral research. Rachel Reyes (CXPT Program, Dr. Daryl Davies, advisor) won the Best Poster at the Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Symposi- um in Los Angeles, CA on October 20th. Rachel worked on her poster, Manipulaon of the Gut Microbi- ome: Influencing Alcohol Consump- on Behavioralong side USC under- graduates: Catalina Vu, Rachel Paik, and Vida Andoun; and Bravo Star High School student Sina Kiamehr. NEWS USC School of Pharmacy Alumni and Friends Recepon at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeng was a success! The Annual USC School of Pharmacy Alumni and Friends Recepon at the 2017 American Associaon of Pharmaceucal Sciensts (AAPS) Meeng was on Monday, November 13th in San Diego, CA. The recepon was filled with current faculty, students, and alumni including Dr. Annie Wong-Beringer (CXPT), Dr. Andrew Mackay (PSCI), PSCI alum Dr. Tino Sanchez (graduated in 2012), and Dr. Tiger Zhang (picture on the leſt). Dr. Bill Gong, MPTX alumn Dr. Martha Pastuszka (graduated in 2014), and other SOP friends (picture on the right) were among the many in aendance. Doctoral Regulatory Science Students Presented their Research Throughout Asia! Several doctoral Regulatory Science students have presented their work in Asia as part of the RSCI 604Regulatory Sciences in Asia course. Students: Monique Carter, Jeanne Greenwald, Virginia Hill, Wendi Lau, Marn Koning-Basaan, Laura Kupsch, Geoffrey Okelo, Mary Wilhelm, Carolyn Wright, and Michael Yartzoff were accompanied by SOP Faculty Dr. Frances Richmond, Dr. Eunjoo Pacifici, Dr. C. Benson Kuo, and Dr. Gerald Loeb. The students presented their research throughout Tokyo, Korea and China, including at the Korea Health Industry Development Instute, the China Pharmaceucal University, and the Shanghai FDA in China during their 10-day visit to Asia during late October. Jingyu Chen and Lucas Guerrez Presented Posters with Disncon at Naonal Conferences! Jingyu Chen (MPTX Program; Dr. Bangyan Sles advisor) was awarded the "Presidenal Poster of Disncon" award for her poster on "Pten Deleon in SOX9 Posive Hybrid Periportal Hepatocytes (HybHP) Leads to the Development of Cholangiocarcinoma" at the American Associaon for the Study of Liver Diseases Conference. Lucas Guerrez (CXPT Program, Dr. Houda Alachkar, advisor) was awarded the “2017 American Society of Hematology Minority Graduate Student Abstract Achievement Awardfor his poster on "Midostaurin Reduces Regulatory T Cell Populaon in Healthy and Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cellsat the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeng. Congratulaons Jingyu Chen and Lucas! PHARMACY GRADUATE ALLIANCE (PGA) CORNER PGA to host a Canvas and CheeseEvent! The PGA Board will be hosng the Canvas and Cheeseevent on Thursday, November 30th at 6:00 pm, Locaon: TBD. The students will have a chance to work on their painng skills! UPCOMING EVENTS USC-Amgen Seminar Series to Conclude with Amgen Thousand Oaks Campus Visit, Friday, Dec 1: The seminar series has addressed various topics including the idenficaon of therapeuc targets and their role in disease; approaches to opmize therapeuc efficacy and safety; case studies from bench top to clinic; and informaon on process development and manufacturing of devices, with approximately 50 students aending each week. Students had the opportunity to network with Amgen sciensts during small-group lunches. 40 students will be selected to tour several labs at the Amgen Thousand Oaks Locaon on December 1, 2017, with priority given to those who have consistently aended the seminars; invitaon is required. CONGRATULATIONS

Xizohan Hu (HLEC Program, Dr. Jeff McCombs, advisor) presented her research on “First-line pembrolizumab in PD-L1 Positive Non-small-cell Lung Cancer: A Cost-effectiveness Analysis from a UK Healthcare Perspective” at the International Society for Phar-macoeconomics and outcomes Research.

USC School of Pharmacy Alumni and Friends Reception at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeting was a success!

The Annual USC School of Pharmacy Alumni and Friends Reception at the 2017 American Association

of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Meeting was on Monday, November 13th in San Diego, CA. The

reception was filled with current faculty, students, and alumni including Dr. Annie Wong-Beringer

(CXPT), Dr. Andrew Mackay (PSCI), PSCI alum Dr. Tino Sanchez (graduated in 2012), and Dr. Tiger

Zhang (picture on the left). Dr. Bill Gong, MPTX alumn Dr. Martha Pastuszka (graduated in 2014),

and other SOP friends (picture on the right) were among the many in attendance.
