“WAVE”: WORKS BY RINO NOTO Art exhibition I n this highly anticipated new series of expected portraits, Rino Noto contemplates the ebb and flow of candid human activity. But Wave’s dozen images do more than merely document the flux of life. Noto delves into the absurd, abstracting these intimate scenes and pulling them out of conventional time and space. These visual peaks and troughs inherent to Noto’s imagery – that stark contrast between light and shadow, those jarring hues, the unexpectedly bold forms and rippling landscapes – seem to echo the scenes’ conceptual content. In Wave, we catch a brief, truncated glimpse of life’s cycles: joy, resilience, purposeful absurdity, all presented in one interconnected package. Like a Warhol silkscreen or a snapshot of daily living broken down by the pointillism of Seurat, it’s not a simple photo we see, but an image transformed – just like Noto’s many subjects. LINO TAGLIAPIETRA @ SANDRA AINSLEY GALLERYLino Tagliapietra’s career is defined by a dedication to workmanship, innovation and collaboration. T H E P R A C T I C E O F R E S O N A N C E : EMILIA-AMALIA SESSION XPresented by Berlin-based artist Alex Martinis-Roe and writer Federica Buetti, this workshop will begin from the resonances between two feminist texts that are from completely different places, contexts and discourses: one about the Milan Women’s Bookstore co-operative, and the other No Selves To Abolish: Afropessimism, anti-Politics, and The End of The World by K. Aarons. The resonances and dissonances between the two texts will be explored through a collective film and writing experiment. Through the production of a short film, the group will devise a toolbox of techniques and practices to explore the conditions for generating political alliances between different positions.

SCREENING OF “IL FIUME HA SEMPRE RAGIONE” DI SILVIO SOLDINIICFF LITERATUREAlberto Casiraghy and Josef Weiss are true bibliophile artists. One in Osnago, the other in Mendrisio, they have been dedicating themselves for years to valuable editorial and typographical activities, still printing with mobile characters, preserving the memory of a perfect ingenuity made of manual skills and technique, but also of inventiveness and poetry. Silvio Soldini gives us a realistic and poetical portrait of these two artists-artisans, who chose one of the oldest professions in a modern world, finding great success and approval.

Preceding the screening there will be a video interview with the film’s protagonist Alberto Casiraghy immediately followed by a reading of Casiraghy’s Aphorisms by both Casiraghy and Corrado Paina. Poets Rob Marra and Lucio Iacobelli will then each present their own poems live from the stage.
