Theres just a special feeling inthe air when the high schoolfootball playoffs roll around.This season, six Downriverteams made the playoff gradeand all of them will begin thepostseason with games onFriday night. In an all-Downriver League Division 2region, Truman will host AllenPark and Woodhaven will hostRoosevelt. Truman, Rooseveltand Woodhaven are all 8-1 thisseason and league tri-champs.

In one of the mostdominating double-overtimegames imaginable, Inter-City claimed yet anotherdistrict championship onFriday with a 1-0 victoryover Plymouth Christian.
The score was the onlything close about this gameas the Chargers outshotPlymouth Christian 17-0.
They really just packedit in, Inter-City BaptistCoach Mark Kraatz said.They had the ball in ourend for maybe five minutesin the first half and it wasprobably less than a minutein the second half.
Despite dominating thetime of possession, theChargers were blankedthrough regulation and thefirst overtime.
Inter-City finally got onthe board five minutes intothe second overtime whenTravis Miles provided anice crossing pass to EvanKraatz, who promptly head-ed the ball into the back ofthe Plymouth Christian netfor the games only goal.
