The Museum of CroydonOpen Tuesday - Saturday, 10.30am - 5pm (except public / bank holidays)

Croydon recreated: 3 collections, 9 locations, 100 years

Until 9 April 2016 Tuesday - Saturday, 10.30am - 5pm

Exhibition Gallery, Croydon Clocktower

The’Croydon recreated’exhibition explores what Croydon might have

looked like around the turn of the 20th century. Using paintings by ‘Evacustes’

Arthur Phipson, images from the Photographic Survey & Record of

Surrey and Ordnance Survey maps from the 1910s, the exhibition recreates

9 locations in the County Borough of Croydon around 100 years ago.

‘Museum of Croydon Collections’ is the new online catalogue, providing public access to the collections. With over 6,500 individual items from 304 archive collections. This searchable

catalogue will enable users to discover historic material from the

Borough’s archive collections which can then be viewed in the Museum’s

newly refurbished Research Room. Over time, this will develop into a comprehensive catalogue of the Borough’s collections, increasing

access to, and understanding of, our shared histories.

For anyone who has an interest in local history, a visit to the FREE

exhibition or a look at the fascinating online catalogue would surely be

most enjoyable.
