-Opened Harrah's Club Bingo and Harrah's Lake Club at Lake Tahoe
-Donated 175 vehicles to establish the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada

-Siegel was an American gangster who was involved with Italian-American organized crime. Siegel was a major driving force behind large-scale development of Las Vegas.
-Known as “The Father of Las Vegas." In 1946, Siegel used about $5 million to construct the first super-casino/hotel, the Flamingo.

-Las Vegas Air Force Base was officially renamed Nellis Air Force Base
-He flew sixty-nine missions over Europe and was shot down twice, surviving each crash
-During the Battle of the Bulge, Lieutenant Nellis was killed in action over Bastogne. His sacrifice made him a local hero.
Howard Hughes-Aviator, engineer, industrialist, film producer, film
director , philanthropist, and one of the wealthiest people in the world.
-He owned six casinos on the Las Vegas Strip as well as other hotel-casinos and businesses around the state.
-Hughes was determined to rid Las Vegas of its ties to organized crime -brought credibility to casino gambling
