WHY DO WE NEED TECHNOLOGY IN SPORT?Technologies in sport help us to do sport

activities easier. It also help us to do things. As for example if the disabled person wanted to do sport activities (such as running), they could used bionic feet or other technologies that will help them do sport easier. Sport technologies was also like the football helmet, referee watch, score board, stadium, bats, etc. These man made technology did help things easier when we do sports.

HAWK-EYE

Hawk-eye is the technology that was combined with the latest and most advanced camera system. Hawk-eye is a Goal Line Technology system for football matches.

WHAT CAN THIS TECHNOLOGY DO?

Accurate – betters the FIFA requirement of +/-3cm.

Fast – The information can  be delivered to the referee within 1 second.

Compliant - Fully complies with FIFA specifications.

Definitive - Hawk-Eye can provide a TV replay to prove the decision is correct.

Robust - No single points of failure.

Secure - Hawk-Eye have developed a referees watch in partnership with “Adeunis”, the market leader in stadium communication systems. The signal would not be disturbed so that information could be received by the referee quickly.  

HOW WILL THE HAWK-EYE WORK?

How will it work?There are seven cameras at each end of the stadium focused on the goals. The most common location for the cameras is on the roof of the stadium, there is also flexibility in the camera positions. The images from each of the cameras are processed to find the ball within the image and identify areas which are not the ball. They track the ball when it comes into their range and they can tell when the whole of it crosses the goal line. When this happens, within a second the information is delivered to the match referee by a watch that Hawk-Eye has developed with Adeunis.

NIKE PRECOOL VEST

With daily high temperatures expected to average around 85 degrees Fahrenheit, keeping cool is going to be a an important thing for many athletes. Nike has come up with a clever solution. The Precool is a vest that holds prefrozen ice packs, (almost the same as the blue ice packs that we put in the cooler). The athlete wears the frozen vest for about an hour to the start of competition, to reduce the temperature and makes the body to stop using energy to keep cool.

DOES IT WORK? Yes it did. We still have energy to compete and our body was cool because of the ice packs.

This is the newest Jersey that would be used by America’s NBA players. This jersey produce more airflow and was lighter than the usual basketball jersey. The increase of airflow helps to reduce remaining sweats. This makes the players felt cooler. The decrease of weight help to reduce energy needed to move around or jump. This makes the basketball players to move more freely and feels less weight on their body.

SPEEDO LZR RACER SWIMSUIT

In the Olympic swimming pool, just a couples of second can be the difference between winning and losing. Now Speedo has create the LZR Racer. Developed in association with NASA and the Australian Institute of Sport, the LZR Racer uses a woven elastane-nylon and polyurethane material that's said to hold the body in a more hydrodynamic position, while putting out water and allowing oxygen flow to the muscles. It was produced to avoid drag.
