HEIGHT & WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: Must be over 120cms tall and less than 120kg. Dome climb The Cairns ZOOM is the world’s first Challenge Ropes Course in a wildlife immersion exhibit, situated in the heart of the city on the roof of the Reef Hotel Casino. It consists of over 65 elements of crossings and ziplines - including one which takes participants directly over Goliath, our 4 metre saltwater crocodile! Be educated about and interact with native wildlife, and experience adventure at varying heights and levels of difficulty. The course utilises SafeRoller, a continuous belay system, with participants connected via a harness to a safety cable system from which they are unable to accidentally disconnect whilst traversing through the elements. DURATION: We recommend you allow 2 hours or more for the complete ZOOM and Wildlife Dome experience. Timings differ according to group size. MID ADVENTURE An easier level of difficulty, suitable for initial training and young people, with tunnels, a climbing wall, cargo net and swings. HEIGHT & WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: Must be over 120cms tall and less than 120kg. mid-zoom HIGH ADVENTURE At a greater level of difficulty for the more adventurous, consisting of more complex crossings and 3 ziplines - one of which you dangle over Goliath the croc! HEIGHT & WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: Solo participants must be above 140cm tall and less than 120kg. Participants between 120cm & 140cm must be accompanied by a participant above 160cm tall. Participants are harnessed into a belay system and the aim of this activity is to climb the net from the trampoline up to the ship’s bell, and ring it. *Participants must have completed Mid-ZOOM, Hi-ZOOM and Power Jump before attempting the Slack Line, Pirate Climb or Commando Rope Climb. SLACK LINE Make your way across a 22m webbed line anchored between two elevated points, 6m above the ground. It’s like walking a tightrope! COMMANDO ROPE CLIMB This activity consists of a long thick climbing rope which is hung from the underside of the Power Jump platform (13 metres above the ground) and hangs down to a trampoline. BIRD FEEDING TOURSee our amazing wetlands and rainforest birds at their most active and observe their diverse feeding behaviours. Watch as they fly freely throughout the Dome. Join our regular bird feeding tours led by our experienced Wildlife Keepers, and learn about the many different birds that reside in the Dome.
REPTILE PRESENTATIONSMeet Goliath, our 4 metre estuarine crocodile and learn about how he made his home in the Wildlife Dome. For the more adventurous, zipline directly over him (available on our Hi-ZOOM course). You will also have the chance to get up close and personal with our snakes, lizards, crocs and turtles. Don’t miss the daily crocodile feeding**Subject to seasonal variations.
KOALA AND MAMMAL TALKS Discover what a marsupial is and what makes them so special. You may spot our nocturnal Sugar Gliders and see their remarkable ability to glide from tree to tree. Touch a koala and find out why they sleep all day and how they raise their young. You can also cuddle a koala, snake and crocodile in our purpose-built photo area and have your photo taken as a souvenir of your experience (at an extra cost)!
WILDLIFE SHOWS AND PRESENTATIONS THROUGHOUT THE DAY (INCLUDED WITH ENTRY)
Our Wildlife Dome contains a diverse collection of reptiles, amphibians, marsupials, fish and birds. Meet our iconic characters including Jo Jo the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, Snowy the rare white Laughing Kookaburra and Goliath our 4m estuarine crocodile.
