bour Hotel. A brief City Tour and a welcome cocktail
and dinner part at the Sofitel‟s Lava Dining before retir-
ing for the night.
Mon. Feb 13: This morning, play the Gulf Harbour
Golf Club, a championship layout on the Hauraki Gulf,
often regarded as New Zealand‟s Pebble Beach with
magnificent views of the ocean and host to the 1998
World Cup and home club of LPGA tourist Lydia Ko.

Restaurant overlooking the waterfront.
Tues. Feb 14: Travel to the Northland on a private
coach through beautiful farmland and coastal scenery to

seum or the Fishes Museum. Continue north and check-
in the Paihia Beach Resort and Spa. Relax by the pool,
take a stroll around the town or play a few extra evening
holes at Waitangi. We suggest dining at the hotel‟s
award winning restaurant.
Fairways and Fiords Daily Schedule
Wed. Feb 15: Today Golf at the Waitangi Golf Club, a chal-
lenging, local-members course just around the corner from the
hotel, offering stunning views of the surrounding Islands. An
evening sail on a tall ship around the Bay of Islands and dine
in Russell, known in Maori as Kororareka, settled a thousand
years ago by the Ngare Raumati iwi (tribe). Legend has it that
Kororareka is named after a broth made from the little blue
penguin which was given to a Maori chief wounded in battle.
He was believed to have said "Ka reka te korora” - how sweet
is penguin, leading to the town's name. Blue penguins still
come ashore after dark onto the beach at Russell or Koro-
rareka to nest under the floorboards of waterfront buildings. .
Thus. Feb 16: A special overland trip through the historic
town of Kerikeri, often referred to as „The cradle of the nation
because of its early interaction between Maori and European
Missionaries, to play Kauri Cliffs Golf Club, celebrated as
one of the top 100 golf courses in the world. Magnificent
views of the mighty Pacific Ocean on fifteen holes and a
championship challenge which will keep golfers entranced for
the duration of the round. That evening a very special dinner
experience at an exciting Maori Cultural Night Show in the
nearby local meeting house at the Waitangi Treaty grounds.
Fri. Feb 17: An early morning flight from Kerikeri Airport
via Auckland to Rotorua, to have a look at its bubbling mud,
natural hot springs and shooting geysers, and a Kiwi if we are
lucky. After the morning sheep show at the Agridome and
lunch a drive to Taupo and Manuels Hotel on the shores
Lake Taupo, New Zealand‟s largest, freshwater lake, re-
nowned for its giant trout that attract fishermen from all over
the world. Minutes away the township of Taupo offers many
attractions and activities. Visit the raging torrents of Huka
Falls or the hot, bubbling mud in the Craters of the Moon in
Wairakeri National Park. After travel we suggest a quiet lake-
side dinner at the Hotel‟s famous Edgewater restaurant
Sat. Feb 18: Today golf at Wairakeri International Golf
Club reputed to be New Zealand‟s finest inland course with
majestic, forest scenery that provides a tranquil country en-
vironment to help you focus on your game. Later, in the
day, board a luxury fishing boat for a private, twilight,
cocktail and dinner cruise on Lake Taupo. Sail past Maori
rock carvings and enjoy the thrill of reeling in Lake Taupo‟s
giant trout and taste them, just off the hook, barbequed to
perfection by the chef on board. All that remains is to sit
back and enjoy a fabulous sunset as you cruise home.
Sun. Feb 19: Golf at nearby Kinloch Golf Club, a Nicklaus
masterpiece built in 2007, formally named The Jack Nick-
laus Golf Club of New Zealand. Built in 2007, Kinloch
Club was recently added to the ranks of in the World‟s top
100 Courses. It is a true links experience with open vistas
and plenty challenge. Jack Nicklaus claims that Kinloch
has eighteen signature holes. A special cocktail and dinner
experience by the Waikato River is easily arranged at the
world-famous Huka Lodge patronized by royalty, the rich
and famous, including Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of
Edinburgh and too many other great stars of the stage and
screen to mention.
Mon. Feb 20:
Transfer to nearby Taupo Airport for a morning flight
over the Southern Alps to Queenstown, nestled on the
edge of glacial Lake Wakatipu. Check into Millbrook
Resort. Play an afternoon round of golf on the Millbrook
Course Golf Course designed by Open Champion, New
Zealander, Sir Bob Charles. The course is surrounded by
magnificent views of the snow-capped Remarkable
Mountains. Dinner can be arranged in the quaint gold-
mining town of Arrowtown but, with the golf rush over,
the sleepy little town with weathered timber shops and
white washed churches is now full of tourist in search of
jade and other jewelry.
Tues. Feb 21: A busy exciting day starting with an
early morning flight to Milford Sound glaciers and a
cruise through the Sound. In Maori legend, this land-
scape was created by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly fig-
ure who carved the fiords with a magical adze. Without
doubt, Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is his finest creation.
Highly skilled Alpine pilots will fly you between snow-
capped peaks and land you safely on the glacier air strip
where you will join a scenic cruise through the fjords.
Golf at the challenging exclusive Hills Club is offered in
the afternoon. Considered New Zealand‟s best tourna-
ment course , native and exotic trees and a collection of
sculptures from around the world set on the course add
to a very special golf experience

terpiece Jack‟s Point. With a backdrop of the snow-capped
Remarkable mountains and stunning views of Lake Wakatipu

course on the South Island.

ship TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Farm. Its original steam
engines can be seen in operation on board, from an open view-
ing area. During the cruise, the ship's pianist entertains with a
variety of old favorites and you are encouraged to join a sing-
along around the piano! You can also visit the Focsle Mu-
seum, steeped in the history of the TSS Earnslaw. Complimen-
tary tea and coffee are provided on the cruise and delicious
cafe style food and cocktails can be purchased. A hearty farm
dinner is served at the Colonels House on Walter Peak Farm,
followed by sheep dogs in action and a high speed shearing of
a ewe. Try your hand at spinning wool or riding the farmer‟s
black bull. The farm shop is open during the visit and sells
fine wool clothing and many other items related to the area.

minute shopping. Once again you pass the International Date

land‟s largest city sprawls across the Hauraki Gulf and there
is plenty to do both on and off the water. Activities range

certs and a buzzing nightlife. The hotel is ideally located for
guests who wish to explore New Zealand‟s rich maritime
history at the Voyager Maritime Museum, cruise the harbor
