NEW YORK STREET 2-WAY CONVERSION
RebuildIndy is Mayor Greg Ballard’s initiative torestore deteriorating thoroughfares, residentialstreets, sidewalks and bridges as well as to addressneighborhood drainage and flooding issues. Thisinvestment continues to transform neighborhoodsthroughout Indianapolis.
These projects create local jobs and increase publicsafety for neighborhoods and residents, whichsupports Mayor Ballard’s commitment to make
Indianapolis a more livable city.
PROJECT SCOPE
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works willconvert the existing one-way New York Street throughIUPUI’s campus to a two-way street, from West Street toWhite River Parkway. The work mirrors a similar projecton Michigan Street to calm traffic and increase pedestriansafety throughout the campus. The project will include atwo-way, mostly off-street bicycle lane and improvementsto the New York Street/White River Parkway intersection.
