TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESEARCH INVOLVING HUMAN SUBJECTS

Requirements for Participation in Human Subjects Research
All individuals involved in the design, implementation, analysis and/or reporting of a research study at Genesis Health System must complete the following prior to IRB review:
1. NIH Protecting Human Research Participants training, or equivalent (e.g., CITI)
2. Conflicts of Interest in Research training
3. Conflicts of Interest in Research Disclosure

NIH Protecting Human Research Participants
• Required to be taken one (1) time
• Should take 1 - 1.5 hours to complete
• Remember to save a copy of your certificate of completion and turn it in to the Research Department at [email protected]

To access the COI training go to:

Healthstream Login Information
Once Logged in to Healthstream
1. Click on “Catalog” at the top of the page
2. Type in “Research”
3. Click on “Conflicts of Interest in Research” training in the Results section
4. Click on “Enroll” to begin the training
Conflict of Interest in Research Training
• Required to be taken once every 4 years
• Should take 15 minutes to complete
• Remember to save a copy of your certificate of completion and turn it in to the Research Department at [email protected]
Conflicts of Interest Disclosure
The COI disclosure questionnaire is distributed by the Genesis Compliance Department https://genesis.coi-smart.com All new investigators should contact the Research Department, so they can be added to the disclosure list. You will receive an e-mail from Genesis COI Smart that will provide instructions on how to access and complete the questionnaire
Conflicts of Interest Disclosure
• Required to disclose annually
– The questionnaire is sent out in July, each year
• Should take 5-10 minutes to complete
• There is no certificate of completion for the disclosure
