is the motto for the new tiles for 2015 by Villeroy & Boch Tiles. Inspired by its own

historical models, it developed highly aesthetic tile ranges that have a defining effect on

their surroundings and bear a distinctive signature linking the history of the company

with contemporary themes.

The new tile ranges are innovative and completely independent concepts with a new

and yet familiar aesthetic look. A perfect symbiosis of the historical and the modern has

been achieved, for example, by placing the famous “Mettlacher Platten”, or Mettlach

tiles, in a contemporary context and giving them a highly modern slant with regard to

colour, format and decoration.

Furthermore, Villeroy & Boch Tiles has linked historical elements with the popular

industrial style, which has its roots in the current living culture of modern city life.

The result: expressive tiles with a surface finish reminiscent of cast concrete and an

exclusive used-look décor.

Luxury and glamour continue to feature prominently and, in 2015, have been reinter-

preted in the form of premium marble effects with elegant colours and exquisite

decoration. Last but not least, nature is a sought-after theme in the interior design

world. The desire for materials with an authentic feel, original forms and natural

colours is met in a very special way. Inspired by distinctive natural stone, the new

ranges offer amazing stone effects in harmonious colours with matching decorations.

The wood-look theme has been skilfully adopted and implemented in ceramics with

authenticity and elegance, as well as successfully combined with historical models.

And so we come full circle: the 2015 collection impressively combines contemporary

themes with Villeroy & Boch tradition.

ASTORIA resembles Jura marble and

gives rooms and bathrooms an elegant

natural look.

The effect is tastefully emphasised by

the matt or rough-polished surfaces

that bring out the different design

nuances of each individual tile.

This natural elegance is also reflected

in the décors – optionally with round

shapes in warm colours or a geometri-

cal diamond pattern in cooler colours,

along with a triangular mosaic which

The ceramicplus finish is applied to our nonvitreous wall tiles at the factory. Our tiles thus require much less care. Often, the only cleaning materials that are required are water and a cloth; aggressive cleaning agents are redundant.

vilbostone porcelain stoneware permits a wealth of different surface designs featuring unusual colour and sheen effects. vilbostone porcelain stoneware is available both glazed and unglazed, with a matt, polished, rough-polished or relief surface finish and in various classes of slip resistance.

Unglazed vilbostone porcelain stoneware with a matt or rough-polished surface finish have the vilbostoneplus seal, which renders the tiles particularly resistant to dirt and stains. During the manufacturing process, the structure of the tile surface is sealed in order to further increase the tiles’ resi stance to staining and dirt, as a result of which subsequent treatment with impregnating agents is no longer necessary.

Ecological, environmentally friendly production V&B Fliesen GmbH has been awarded the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) label by the IBU (Institut für Bauen und Umwelt e.V.). The Environmental Product Declaration provides relevant, verifiable and comparable information on the environmental impact of products. This certification allows architects and planners to utilise our products in all properties that have been certified as satisfying the BREEAM, LEED, DGNB or other comparable international require-ments for sustainable building. The IBU, as the administrator of the German EPD program, is part of the ECO PLATFORM, through which it works to promote the harmonisation of national EPD programmes at the European level.

Tiles by Villeroy & Boch meet every aspect of the international parameters required for “sustainable building”.All over the world, our tiles feature in architectural projects that are classified by the German DGNB, the American LEED and the British BREEAM. The closed manufacturing processes that include both traditional and state-of-the-art tech-nologies, such as digital print, meet the very highest environmental standards. All raw materials used in the ceramic mass, glazes and pastes, as well as for packaging the tiles, are evaluated according to strict ecological principles.

The entire manufacturing process avoids emissions into the water, soil and air that would have a detrimental effect on the environment. Heat recovery and continuous energy-efficiency measures, as well as environmentally aware waste management, are testimony to the environmental compatibility of our production. At least 85% of the waste produced is recycled. The waste water generated by the manufacturing process and the solids it contains are almost entirely re-used. Thanks to heat recovery, CO2-emissions can be reduced by about 3000 tons per year.

Not only manufacturing considerations but also the lasting quality of the designs of our tiles earn them the “sustainable building” accolade at interna-tional level. Both manufacture and the products themselves are continuously assessed in accordance with the latest independent system and product certifi-cations.
