GreetingsNational Director of Women’s Discipleship Ministries

Mrs. Joycelyne Bolt3

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

What a privilege it is to extend greetings to our Administrative Bishop, and the Leadership of our Church, National Women’s Board, Presidents, Co-ordinators, Secretaries and all delegates to this year’s Women’s Empowerment Conference. Special Greetings to our Guest Speakers: Pastor Deven Wallace, Evangelist Jacqui Smith, Pastor Anna Phillips, Workshop Presenters and our Guest Psalmist Donna Akodu.

Since stepping into the office of National Director of Women’s Ministries, I have been blessed and inspired by the expressions of love, support and dedicated work from our members and friends all over the country – I thank God for you.

Last year we celebrated 50 years of Women’s Ministries in England and Wales and we are thankful to God for where He has brought us. By His grace our endeavour is to mobilise an army of women - of all cultures, ethnicities and economic status to become and remain disciples of Jesus Christ.

After much prayer, and strategic planning we have decided to re-align our ministry more closely with the International Church and change our name from “Women’s Ministries Department” to “Women’s Discipleship Ministries”. Discipleship is a significant part of kingdom building, It is the mandate given to us by Christ and this new name expresses that which we seek to do and that is to disciple women. Discipleship is one of the 7 key principles outlined in the Mission and Ministry, Christ Centred vision for our church.

I believe that God is setting us up to soar, He is calling us higher, calling us to excel and move forward in the power of the Holy Spirit!

Let’s not miss what God is doing - We’re set to soar!

What a joy and delight to greet you and the lovely women of the Church of God in England and Wales to this empowerment conference on behalf of my husband, Dr. Mark L. Williams, Presiding Bishop of the Church of God, the Executive Women’s Committee, International Women’s Discipleship, and your sisters around the world!

I commend your leadership and the excellence with which you are carrying out your ministry duties to those under your watchful care. It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will empower every believer in attendance with a glad new touch of fire; that you will be filled to overflowing with His enablement to do exploits for His kingdom. May each one leave this conference fair as the

moon, clear as the sun and terrible as an army with banners! (Song of Solomon 6:10).

We are ONE!

Joel 2:28: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions”.

It is both an honour and a privilege to be able to extend Christian greetings to the Director of Women’s Discipleship Ministries, Mrs. Joycelyne Bolt, her Board Members and all delegates to this year’s Women’s Empowerment Conference.

Special greetings also to our Guest Speakers Pastor Deven Wallace, Pastor Anna Phillips, Evangelist Jacqui Smith and Guest Psalmist Donna Akodu, along with the other presenters from the New Testament Church of God.

This year, the women have chosen the theme “Set to Soar in the Power of the Holy Spirit” and have a team of dynamic speakers to address this very important subject.

There are four areas of this theme that hold special

significance for us. Firstly the word ‘set’ which means to get ready, to prepare. The word ‘soar’ denotes movement, action, progress. Power is what it will take to soar and the power that we need is that which comes from the Holy Spirit who is the source of our strength.

As we go through this weekend, let us set ourselves up to absorb the Word of God; and challenge ourselves to soar to another level in our Christian walk.

Acts 1:8: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.

GreetingsSecretary to the Board and Executive Board Members

Mrs. Cynthia Spence

On behalf of the National Women’s Executive Board, I am delighted to welcome all our delegates to our annual Women’s Empowerment Conference 2015.

The Board and I extend a very warm welcome to Bishop Donald Bolt our Administrative Bishop, members of the National Executive Council, all Ministers, Presidents, Co-ordinators and Secretaries.

It is indeed a pleasure to extend warm welcome to our Guest Speakers, Pastor Deven Wallace, Evangelist Jacqui Smith and Pastor Anna Phillips from the USA. Our Guest Psalmist Mrs. Donna Akodu, our prayer leaders and all workshop presenters, worship team and musicians.

We thank you for making yourselves available this weekend to share in ministry.

Our theme this year is: Set to Soar in the Power of the Holy Spirit. In order for us to Soar we need to gain strength

through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, spread our wings like the eagle. The scripture reminds us “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and walk and not faint”. (Isaiah 40:31)

It is time to spread our wings and soar though the adversities and trials of life may have been overwhelming and you are growing weary. You have the fearless spirit of a conqueror, so be like the eagle and soar above the storms in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Be strong.Be like the eagle.Let the anointing of the Holy Spirit fall upon you and be in you.Get ready – get set – SOAR!

Perhaps the best word to describe the ministry of Jacqui Smith is “unique”. Pastors have commented on the fact that she shows exceptional sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit...Jacqui has been in full-time ministry for 36 years and is ordained in the Church of God, Cleveland, TN. She left a position in Personnel Management for a major pharmaceutical company in 198l to fully pursue the work of the kingdom. Since this time she has ministered in 36 countries and 46 states. Jacqui was the first female to preach a week long camp meeting in California. In 2001 the Church of God Executive Committee appointed her as the first woman to the position of National Evangelist for the denomination and five years later at the 2006 General Assembly, this evangelist made history by being the first woman to preach in a night service. God has called and gifted Jacqui, first of all as a prophetess, a role she feels strongly about according to Ephesians 4:11. Her burden is to lead the church into a more Word centred faith and deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The ministry gift of the Evangelist is often seen while Jacqui ministers and this is evidenced by many souls coming to salvation, healing and deliverance in Christ. The spiritual sensitivity that characterises her ministry enables her to be effectively used of the Lord in a variety of situations. Anyone who sits under Jacqui’s ministry would agree that she is an instrument of the Lord in these various ways. Truly her ministry can be called “unique”.

Pastor Deven Wallace co-pastors Redemption Point Church with her husband, Bishop Kevin Wallace. She is the founder of The Zion Project, a ministry dedicated to abolishing human trafficking and empowering women and children to walk in their Kingdom position. Her mandate is to rescue victims of abuse and empower them to break the silence. Pastor Deven is fuelled with vision to mobilise people with a message of hope, restoration, and imparting freedom to set the captives free.

Pastor Deven has a prophetic message burning within her for people around the world to awaken to what God is doing. Her messages are causing a wave of revival and God’s glory to be released on the Nations of the earth.

Pastors Kevin and Deven live in Ooltewah, TN with their 4 children: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zion and Judah.

She has featured on countless Christian Television programs and on numerous radio broadcasts in the UK and abroad. She has worked with numerous worship leaders and was part of Noel Robinson’s group Nu Image.

She is a songwriter, and a dynamic worship leader. Donna is passionate about the Saviour she is singing about, and wants those that she leads to experience the joy that true worship brings. Her diminutive frame hides a power so strong and fervent, that it shakes the very core of hell as she declares prophetically the Lordship of Jesus through her songs of worship and deliverance.

Donna is currently working with the charity Worldvision at events called Embrace, a women only night of worship and the word. Leading worship and travelling around the UK alongside Lara Martin, Louise Fellingham, Velveta Thompson, Cath Woolridge and Nicki Sims. She has also served overseas as a missionary and currently with The Zion Project on the Board of Directors and a member of the Women of Fire Coalition.

Anna received and accepted the call to ministry as a young 12 year old girl. She has overcome many obstacles in her life to bring messages of hope and encouragement to this generation and the next. Her anointed preaching and powerful altar ministry has empowered many reach their destiny in Christ, and she has many spiritual sons and daughters who are leading in the Kingdom of God as a result of her ministry and obedience.

She is the founder of R.O.C.K. (Righteous Outrageous Christian Kids) ministries, T-N-T (Teacher in Training) curriculum, and Warriors of Faith Devotionals. Speaker ProfilePaulette Douglas

Paulette is married to Bishop Deverton Douglas (Handsworth NTCG) and they have four beautiful children, Siobhan, Deverton Jr, Dannyl and David.

Paulette gave her heart to the Lord at the tender age of 14 and has been a member of the NTCG for over 38 years. She has a passion for seeing individuals develop and reach their full potential both in the kingdom and in their secular occupations. Her hallmarks are her tears and her gift of intercessory prayer. She is known to be a ‘people-person’ and loves being in the company of godly women who love life and also have a sense of humour!

She currently works as an Education Advocate and Parent Support Advisor for an independent charity based in London. The organisation provides advice, support and representation for children experiencing difficulties in school, especially in the area of exclusions and special educational needs.

Paulette is absolutely passionate about seeing children and young people achieve their full potential and sees her secular job as an extension to her ministry. She feels challenged to ensure that the next generation of black boys and men find their rightful place both in society and in the home, where the influence is needed the most. She also serves as a school governor at a local primary school in London and was awarded a Masters Degree in Social Justice and Education in 2014.

Workshop PresenterRev. Jacqueline Newsome

From a sceptical scientist to a Spirit filled Servant, Jacqueline has answered the call to walk with the Lord. A former District Youth and Christian Education Director for the Handsworth District, Jacqueline has been active in children and youth ministry for many years. A teacher both by profession and calling, she was a member of faculty at the Ebenezer Bible Institute for four years.

Jacqueline’s anointing has led her to preach and teach in different churches across the UK and abroad. In 2004 she was the key speaker at the Southern Region NTCG Easter Convention in Ghana, West Africa.

In March 2008 Jacqueline took on, what was initially intended as, an interim role serving the New Testament Church of God in Erdington in the capacity of local Pastor. The Lord obviously had other plans and what began as a short-term service to the fellowship and community was confirmed as her God-given mission for this season. Under her pastorate the faithful fellowship has been transformed and she gives glory to God for the work He has done in their lives.

It is Jacqueline’s desire to see the Body of Christ ‘sharpened’ and ‘shaped’ by her ministry and that God’s people learn how to apply His Word effectively - transforming lives, having real impact!

My name is Laraine Giles and I am married to Brian Giles. I have 2 children Jay and Stacey. I live in Cardiff and I attend Vine Community Church. I have been saved for over 20 years and in that time children’s ministries have been my main priority. I have had various posts such as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, District Youth Director (DYD) and I now serve on the National Youth Board as National Children’s Co-ordinator.

My passion is to see every child grow and reach their full potential in Christ and also in their all round development. I enjoy reading and writing but my desire now is to do missions at home and abroad. I have worked in nursery and early years education for 20 years and in my spare time I am now pursuing my passion to write children’s books.

I always say my desire to see children grow from tiny caterpillars that eventually turn into beautiful butterflies spreading their wings have been the main driving force in all I do.

Claudette worked progressively hard in a high street bank (HSBC) for 22 years, progressing to middle management, dealing with Premier Account Customers, investments etc. She left this high profile career to pursue her lifelong dream of working with children, after studying for a number of years.

She is a member of the Harrow NTCG, where in 2010 she formed an activity based children’s club: the ‘Harrow Children in Action’. From the outset, the vision has been to provide a nurturing Christian environment, where children from both the church and wider community can interact and have fun. The club has produced a successful children’s choir that is sought after for ministry, in the local church. She is the Local and the District Children’s Co-ordinator.

Her ministry to children has solid professional and spiritual foundations: She is an Early Years Practitioner, employed by the Local authority. In this capacity, she works with children with a range of abilities, in various schools, containing representations of diverse cultures. She also runs a School Gospel Choir, which has participated in local church and community event.

Claudette combines her children’s work with Sunday school teaching; altar ministry and evangelism. These multiple ministries, along with the anointing and her passion for the salvation of young souls, have fitted her for this time and this ministry.

Claudette has been blessed by a Christian upbringing. She has been happily married to Vanroy, a Minister, for 35 years, and they have been blessed with two daughters and a grandson.

Marline Freckleton is eldest of three children born in Wales and although she was not brought up in a Christian home, accepted the Lord in her late teenage years and was one of seventeen young people baptised at Newport New Testament Church in 1981.

Marline has been married to Lester for 28 years and they have two wonderful children, Lemarl and Lauren (our miracle babies) who have both just finished studying at university.

Marline is humbled and honoured that God has chosen her and Lester to lead the Cardiff Church into the next stage of its development, continuing to build on the foundations laid by all those who have laboured before.

With over 26 years experience of ministering to children and young people, Marline is passionate about the development of children and young people. She is never happier than when she is introducing them to the unconditional love of God and believes that our responsibility is to ensure that the gifts they possess are given every opportunity to flourish and grow.

Marline is a Human Resource Generalist, currently working as a Human Resource Business Partner at BBC Wales.

Geni Hall is a member of the New Testament Church of God in Handsworth, Birmingham. She has a passion for children and young people and currently serves as part of the National Children’s Ministry team – a role she has been carrying for several years. A graduate of Ebenezer Bible Institute, Geni is an active member of her local church and is currently serving in Christian Education (as a teacher to 14-16 year olds), Children’s Choir Director and has recently taken on the post of Local Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator. She is also involved in the Adult Choir Ministry and she is a Worship Leader. She has previously served as board member for the local Women’s Ministry. Having made a decision to follow Jesus Christ from an early age, Geni sees the need for the seed to be sown in the lives of young people. She deems it important that they come to know God for themselves and develop a personal relationship with him. She believes that God has a divine purpose for all and that “what we plant now, we will harvest later”.

Geni has a background in Business Administration, Mentoring and Counselling. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, music, creative arts and sports.

This year’s conference will have an abundance of blessed and inspired preachers, teachers, lecturers and ministers from home and abroad including Pastor Deven Wallace, Evangelist Jacqui Smith and Pastor Anna Phillips from the USA.

The topic 'Set to Soar in the power of the Holy Spirit' is an amazing topic, sent straight from heaven! The Conference will have something for everyone. There will be some exciting workshops including the following topics.

• How to find your wings' for children Aged 5-10 years old

• Finding your wings’ - 11-13 years old• Soar to Commitment - 14 – 17 years old• Soar by Releasing the Power within - for

18 - 24 years old• Identifying your Mission and Ministry - 25+• Soar in Leadership for District and Local

Presidents, Secretaries and Co-ordinators.

When we think of soaring, we often think of an eagle. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:-

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint".

An eagle learns to soar by using thermal currents of air. These warm air patterns are created by the surrounding terrain. They will spread their wings and their tail feathers and let the wind carry them to new heights, then glide down to catch another upward thermal. Soaring saves the eagle’s energy because it does not have to flap its wings as often.

When I think of wings, I consider our wings of faith. Faith has to come from the heart, where we stretch out and reach toward the Lord, while the winds of His Spirit hold us afloat. When we flap our wings, we are vigorously exercising our

faith through works, based upon what we believe the Lord has told us. And when we soar, we are resting in our trust in the Lord and letting Him carry us through smooth or rough times.

As the wings help us to glide, the tail feathers are for landing and manoeuvring in flight and used like a brake when landing, just like an aeroplane. It tilts back and forth, up and down, depending upon the need. It seems like one of the hardest lessons in life to learn, is to wait upon The Lord and not do things in our own strength.

Sometimes God wants us to wait upon Him because He wants to carry us so we don’t suffer burnout in flapping our wings! God wants us to trust Him, rely upon Him and be faithful to Him. May we wait upon the Lord to renew our strength; and may our faith mount up with wings as eagles so that we may run, and not be weary; and walk and not faint. Amen.
