NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION - Redlands
Transcript of NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION - Redlands
University of Redlands | 21 | New Student Orientation Mandatory Event
On behalf of the entire orientation team, we want to welcome you to the University of Redlands and the start of the rest of your life as a Bulldog! Our goal during orientation is to welcome new students and families to campus and begin the process of integrating new students into the university’s intellectual, cultural, social, and personal opportunities. The orientation team will guide and support you as you begin to find your place within the University community. This week is about new students becoming comfortable and confident with the start of their Redlands journey, meeting new people, and having fun!
We encourage you to ask lots of questions, introduce yourself to new people, attend all the social events, and have fun! The orientation team is excited to get to know you and experience this week with you.
Your orientations coordinators, Jeena, Jen, Katryna, and Iriana
Hello from the Orientation Leaders
Welcome to Bulldog Nation! We’re glad you’re here!
You are about to assume the daunting and exciting task of earning your undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands. The road will be long and sometimes challenging, which is why your full participation in New Student Orientation (NSO) is so important.
NSO is intended to set you up for success. It’s designed to help you build relationships, not just with your peers, but with faculty and staff, to introduce you to possibilities, to help you think about how you engage with others, to challenge your thinking, and to support your efforts as you begin to find a place in the U of R community, your community—a diverse group of scholars, dreamers, people—steeped in tradition, honored by its past, and optimistic about its future.
Please take time to review this entire booklet, and remember each event has a specific purpose and is designed for your active participation. We ask that you show up and be present, and challenge you to participate in as many of the programs as possible. We recognize participation in everything is not be possible, so please note that the schedule designates mandatory events. If you need help figuring out what you can or should attend, we recommend talking with an Orientation Leader, as they likely know the schedule best. There will be other individuals on campus throughout the week who can also assist you—Peer Advisors, faculty, and a diverse group of University staff and administrators. They are all resources for you throughout orientation and beyond.
Take a deep breath, soak in the moments, and envision success.
Och Tamale!
