Please note that there are no guests allowed on res during Res and Uni O'week. This means there are no guests allowed until the 4th March.

A visitor is defined as a person who is meeting with a resident for a short period of time, while a guest is defined as a person who is staying overnight with a resident.

Any non-resident who is present without a guest pass after noise curfew of 11pm will be required to leave the residences, and the resident responsible for that visitor will incur a $50.00 fine.

The University reserves the right to charge an amenity fee to anyone staying more than three nights in a 7-day period.

A guest must be accommodated in the host resident’s room, and not the lounge room or other common area.

Residents need to organise a dated guest pass from resi reception before 11pm. The guest is required to carry the pass with them at all times.

The host resident is responsible for the behaviour and conduct of their guests. The host is also re-sponsible for informing the other people in their unit that they have a guest staying overnight.

Deakin University is a smoke-free environment. This includes all

Deakin property, including: all land, buildings, vehicles, facilities and other prop-

erty owned or leased by or under the control of the University. This policy has

been implemented to create a healthy and safe environment for all Deakin stu-

dents, staff and associates.

Residences however, carpark 13 and the basketball court. Residents may smoke

in this area and ONLY this area. Residents found smoking outside of this areas

will incur a fine and/or disciplinary action.

Please be considerate of fellow residents down at the village when using the

smoking area and keep the noise levels to a minimum, especially during the

night time .

The smoke detectors on res are incredibly sensitive and directly linked to the fire brigade.

The resident responsible for a fire unit(s) calls out shall be liable for the cost and in cases

where no individual is identified the Residence manager reserves the right to apportion the

cost across all the residents of the unit involved.

If ever you hear the evacuation tones, DO NOT assume it is a false alarm. You MUST VA-

CATE IMMEDIATELY.

Staying safe

The safety of all our residents is a major priority here at BSR. Threats to a resident’s safety

or possessions should be reported immediately.

Deakin Security is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be contacted on 1800

062 579 or via the Safe Zone app.

If you are travelling around campus alone or late at night, please remember that you can al-

ways arrange a security escort to your vehicle or other locations on campus by calling secu-

rity on 1800 062 579 .

Safezone App

SafeZone is a free app for all Deakin University students and staff, that connects you directly

to the Security team when you need help on campus.

The app makes it easier for you to contact the Security team and helps them to respond if

you need assistance, by sending your name and location directly to the response team

members.

Deakin University encourages students and staff to register for the free SafeZone app on

their mobile device. The app for all Deakin University campuses and response from the Secu-

rity team is free.

Deakin University's Security team monitors SafeZone 24 hours a day. More information

about the app, including how to download it to your phone, can be found at : http://

Long Term Virtual Parking Permits – vPermit

Purchasing your permit online

You can now purchase your long term parking permit online using a valid credit card. Permits are now valid for 4 months (120 days) or 12 months (365 days) from the date of purchase.

Physical permits are no longer required

Our new parking permit system is based on vehicle registrations and physical permits will no longer be provided or required to be displayed on your vehicle. You can enter up to three vehi-cles on your permit but only one vehicle can be active at any time. Important reminder: when you bring a different vehicle to campus, it is your responsibility to select and activate a different vehicle on your vPermit account.

Short Term Parking Permits – Casual (hourly/daily)

CellOPark is our new ‘Pay As You Go’ mobile App provider. You can establish a CellOPark ac-count with a valid debit or credit card. Your parking session can be managed on your mobile de-vice (smartphone, laptop, and computer) or by making a phone call. You no longer need to deter-mine how long you’ll require parking prior to purchasing a ticket and potentially paying for more time than you needed. With our new system, you’ll only be charged for the parking time you ac-tually use.

To register

To register, simply install the free CellOPark Australia App and complete the short sign-up form. You can enter up to three vehicles on your account but only one vehicle can park at any time. Please take extra care to ensure you enter your vehicle registration/s correctly (the most common mistake to avoid is entering the letter ‘I’ instead of the number ‘1’ or the letter ‘O’ in-stead of the number ‘0’ or vice versa).

To start a casual parking permit session

Select your location, the relevant campus zone number and ‘START’. Remember to STOP’ when you leave so that you only pay for the time you park.

Important reminder: when you bring a different vehicle to campus, it is your responsibility to select and activate a different vehicle on your CellOPark account.

Ingredients

6 large bananas, peeled, halved lengthways

30g butter, chopped

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1.25 litres vanilla ice-cream

1/4 cup roasted salted peanuts, roughly chopped

Chocolate sause

120g dark chocolate, chopped

1/2 cup thickened cream

Step 1

Preheat oven to 220°C/200°C fan-forced. Place bananas, cut side-up, in a 3cm-deep, 19cm x 30cm (base) baking tray. Place butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes or until melted and smooth. Pour over bananas. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Set aside to cool for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, make sauce Place chocolate and cream in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring with a metal spoon, for 3 to 4 minutes or until melted and smooth.

Step 3

Top banana mixture with scoops of ice-cream. Drizzle with chocolate sauce. Sprinkle with peanuts. Serve.
