What is a Battery?

• A battery is a storage device; it holds energy which it supplies on demand. However, this process can only work if the battery is given the correct care and maintenance.

• Once a battery has been filled and charged, it begins to die, just like milk begins the process of becoming sour, the moment it leaves the cow.

Do You Use A Motor Mover?

• A motor mover takes out much more energy than normal on-board appliances.

• Continuous cycling from the Motor Mover causes a normal leisure battery to fail prematurely.

• This should have be taken into account when purchasing your new battery.

• Fit a battery that has been designed to cope with the demands from the Motor Mover.

• Our Platinum AGM Motor Mover battery has been specificallydesigned to cope with the arduous demands placed on the batteryby the Motor Mover.

Scrap Batteries

• Ensure you bring your battery back to somewhere that will recycle your battery via a legally compliant scrap recycling scheme.

• We have a duty to protect the environment that we work and live in. After all, a healthy planet and a healthycommunity go hand in hand.

Charging

• Always wear protective clothing when working with batteries: Eye protection, Gloves and Apron.

• Ensure that the correct type of chargeris used. For proper charging, refer to theinstructions that came with your equipment.

• Only use a Lead Acid Battery Charger, do not use any othertechnology; Lithium-Ion, Nickel Cadmium, Alkaline etc

• Ensure the charger is set to the appropriate program fordeep-cycle flooded/wet, AGM or Gel, depending on the type of battery you are charging.

• Charge only in well-ventilated areas.

• Do not smoke or have any naked flames in the vicinity of the battery and charger.

• Check electrolyte level (wet flooded batteries) to make surethe plates are covered with water before charging

• Check that all vent caps are secured properly on the batterybefore charging.

• Ensure that the charger is switched off before connecting ordisconnecting the battery leads. Do not adjust the leads whilstthe charger is switched on.

• Connect the positive lead from the charger to the positiveterminal of the battery and connect the negative lead fromthe charger to the negative terminal of the battery.

• Check that the charging leads are securely clamped inposition before switching on the charger.

• Never charge the battery faster than the batterymanufacturer’s specified maximum charging rate. The battery manufacturer’s specified maximum charging rate is10% of the Ah capacity of the battery. For example, if youhave a 100Ah battery then the specified maximum chargingrate would be 10Ah.

• Do not overcharge the battery.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after working with batteries.

• Always disconnect the charger when not in use.

You level the caravan or motorhome once with a spirit level, place the u-level transmitter on a flat surface such as the kitchen worktop, put it into calibration mode and it sets itself to show level.Thereafter you simply place the transmitter in the same spot and take the receiver outside with you whilst you adjust the level. It’s a jolly sight more convenient than having to go back to check a spirit level and it works in two axes at the same time - front to back and side to side. What’s more you can see it in the dark. I’ve seen a rival product but that was not wireless and required installation. This beats it hands down. Conclusion: Great piece of kit, highly recommended”
