Divorce Advice for Men and Women

Ask any man who have undergone a divorce whether they feel like the proceedings

went as fair as possible and most of them will tell you directly that they “got screwed

over”. Thing is, most of these men never really received good counsel prior to the

divorce action. They need not only legal advice but they should also be given a good

idea on how things will transpire so they will get a good grasp of the situation. Most of

the time, the 2 parties will get 50-50 of the total assets. If there are children in the mix,

this is where it gets hairy for the guy. And no, I could only wish the last part was just a

joke.

For women, divorce counseling revolves around child custody and support. The main

point of counseling for women is that they should be conditioned to make sure that

they will never use their kids as leverage should they want more money or to get

revenge.

While divorce for men is usually reactive, divorce advice for women are pretty much

proactive. This is plainly because most divorces have women as the petitioners. If the

reason for the divorce is physical violence, divorce advice for women will revolve on

how to protect herself and her kids from the husband without jeopardizing their

lifestyle.

As mentioned above, men are usually the respondents on a divorce case. This means

that there will be cases wherein the man will be surprised about the turn of events.

Many claim that they are “blinded” by the whole process and does not know what to do

next. There are a myriad of reasons as to why a woman will hold a divorce petition

secret to her husband right before she serves it. This is where the divorce advice for

women and men differ greatly and for a good reason. Women are afraid that their

husbands will spend their marital funds on something else before a judgment is passed.

All in all, the whole point of a divorce advice for both women and men is to ensure that

both parties get a fair settlement. The settlement should also cause the least amount of

stress to the children. Most courts favor those who have an idea of the law and would

like divorce proceedings to be settled instead of the court settling it for them. The

people concerned just need to have a clear head and a good understanding of their

rights.
