Why the change?

- Studies show that people did not fully understand the PDU categories and how to appropriately report their PDUs using the old structure.

- Confusing? Yep – 18 categories and limits on how many PDUS could be earned in each one.

What are PDUs?

What is required for PMPs?

- PDU stands for Professional Development Unit. Once you are a credential holder, you need to adhere to the PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements program.

- PMPs are required to earn 60 PDUs over a 3 year cycle.

PDU Categories fall into two divisions:

Educational unlimited PDUS can be earned.

Giving Back to the Profession Max 45 PDUS in 3 years.

All categories use the rule that one hour of learning activity is equivalent to one PDU

Categories have been expanded to include Web 2.0 learning opportunities – blogs, social networking, video sharing etc..

There is a limit of 45 PDUs on the Giving Back to the Profession Category to require that all credential holders pursue project management continuing education as part of maintaining their credential.
