KlebeBande – Urban Art Collective Berlin Since the 90’s, we have been expressing ourselves artistically with great passion and are designing our living spaces in Berlin and other metropolises in the context of space, city and architecture. In cooperation with our partners, we develop free and commissioned projects and implement them with great pleasure and dedication. Our focus is on permanent room & wall designs, as well as facades in and around public spaces . As artists we make use of different materials, tech- niques and media. We are inspired by our urban envi- ronment, with its straight-lined forms and the nature. The continuous artistic and creative development of our work is of vital importance to us. The special thing about the development of our creations is a fundamental, conceptual approach. We invest a lot of time and effort into research, conception and development of different styles & approaches.
We develop all our projects in close and reliable cooperation with our clients. We are the three founders of KlebeBande – Bodo Höbing, Bruno “BeezeBoe” Ridderbusch and Kolja Bultmann.

The “Playful, Fun & Colorful” theme extends over 4 floors, in which we focused primarily on abstract and three-dimensional forms. Combined with the geometric patterns, arrows and surfaces typical of the Klebebande, we created anamorphic installations whose formal language runs through all the floors.
The overhead works for the artworks and typographic installations, which stretch across walls and ceilings, posed a particular challenge. The large-scale display creates a strong impression in the overall design of the space. The creation of a moss wall, which was comple- mented by typographic elements, also stands out as a special feature.

The project of creating a free work of art that seamlessly blends in to the historical and listed surroundings of the Waschhaus complex represented a real challenge for us. We were inspired by the simple, geometric shapes and colors of the surrounding brick buildings.
The basic symmetrical structure of the building allowed us to come up with an innovative design, giving free rein to our creativity. The result: a very calm design that almost looks as if a warm Mayan blanket has been lovingly thrown over the building.

Around the set theme “swarm intelli- gence & electromagnetic fields”, we developed an elaborate interior art concept across various spaces.
To do so, we took inspiration from the interior designers’ different room use concepts. In addition to concept devel- opment and curation, we were also responsible for planning, implementation and professional photographic documen- tation. This project was implemented over a six-month period in collaboration with our client, the executing construc- tion company and the interior design agency in London, making it the largest Klebebande project to date.
Support from other artists brought in many other materials and techniques besides tape art, including wall painting, digital printing, non-woven wallpaper, cyanotype and glass foils.

This mural, with a size of 120 square meters, is dedicated to the landmark of the European Energy Forum – the former Gasometer Schöneberg. It is part of the on-campus restaurant. The motif itself an abstraction of the tower’s grid-like structure, with individual elements that remain recognizable although the original building can no longer be grasped.

For the largest building of the MUC office complex in Munich, we dedicated ourselves to the set theme “Delicate Nature”. To capture the subtleties and refinements of nature, we worked with gentle structures, precise details and inspiring facets from primeval forests, the plant world and landscapes.
A high degree of liveliness radiates from the abstract leaf motifs flooded with sunlight, while the mountain landscapes and diamonds resemble delicate gestures with colorful gradients.
The shapes and elements look natural and authentic, rendered through purposefully placed Tape Art lines in the classic Klebebande style.
The design thus harmoniously fits in with the title “Walk through the forest” across all spaces over 7 floors. We also curated other artists in the creation process to enable an even more diverse result.

The first school in Germany featuring a Tape Art design is located in Crailsheim, Baden-Württemberg. In the artistic development of the concept, we were guided by the school‘s requirements to visually separate subject areas.
We decided to use historical icons such as Frida Kahlo and Miles Davis, providing a symbolic differentiation of the various disciplines. We combined this with arrows and geometric elements typical of the Klebebande, which in the form of overlapping surfaces emphasize liveliness in the school building.

The set theme for this project was “Craft and human creation & movement”. For this purpose, we embarked on an intensive examination of the brush as a tool and the unique designs and shapes that it enables.
The result was the “Brushstroke” con- cept, which symbolically unites craft and movement. To implement it, we digitized brushstrokes to create print products, murals, glass designs, and a Peters- burg-Hanging of 23 of our original works.
Across three office floors – the recep- tion, conference rooms, kitchens and scrum rooms - we designed an inspiring, artistic atmosphere.

In Munich’s Werksviertel district, an expressive, imposing building with a still visible sphere on the roof bears the powerful name ATLAS. We designed three large facades on the outside and developed a pictorial representation of the titan who bears the name “Atlas” over 15 floors on the inside, starting with his procreation and ending with his ascent to Olympus, thus bringing him to life as a mythological figure.
Our design work was based on extensive research and exploration of Greek mythology. Using a reduced color selection, modern tape art, spray paint and various layers, we developed a puristic design in direct reference to Greek busts.

The interior art by KlebeBande extends over five office floors in the former Berlin department store Hertzog. Different techniques such as tape art, graffiti, painting, wallpaper design, large format prints on canvas, glass design and photo emulsion were applied and combined on more than one hundred walls. Some works were created in collaboration with global local artists as ISAKOV and Thomas Gosset Valère.

The concepts for the different floors were created and constructed in cooperation with a London interior design office HOK.
The remnants of the buildings original Art Deco and Art Nouveau interior, are the inspiration for the design concept, that focuses on the historical context of the buildings original architecture, set in the 1920s.

Shifting Dimensions – BandenMuster The Haus / Berlin / 2017 Material / Fabric Tape / 150 sqm

The installation Shifting Dimensions was created for the exhibition project “The Haus”. The goal was to alter the room and its dimensions so strongly that the space’s boundaries would dissolve and redefine themselves.
The black, white and gray pattern seems to spread chaotically across the entire room (floor, ceiling, walls, radiators, windows, closets), but it still follows some rules of design. With recurrent structures, interplay of light and shad- ows, and strong variation in intersecting stroke widths, it creates a unified aesthetic that left some visitors with a shaken sense of balance.

The permanent facade design, a combination of foil and spray can, was created during the Berlin Mural Fest 2018.
The mural is spread out around the main entrance of the Holzmarkt which also leads to the Klebebande Studio.
Arrows point at the infinite possibilities our society offers, but also reflect it’s excessive consumerism.
The centered eye resembles the view of the city, capturing a hidden universe inside a growing skyline.

For the Bauhaus Archive, we created a collage-like installation in direct refer- ence to the collages created in the Bauhaus School in the 1930s. To do so, we combined the “Bandenmuster” and arrow constructions with overlapping, semi-transparent color surfaces – three typical style elements of the Klebebande.
We started out from a very rough draft, which gave us plenty of scope for experimentation. Using different adhe- sive materials, we then created the color-intensive, high-contrast design.
Together we developed a way of work- ing in which the three of us could work freely and in parallel on the same design and on different levels. By periodically changing positions, we created a unique tape art wall collage.
