Progress Is Impossible Without Change

For years, Empower has resisted

converting to a different digital banking vendor because we have received so many compliments on how easy our existing website was to use. However, we have been getting requests to enhance and add features that our current vendor cannot provide. To quote George Bernard Shaw, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything”.

After a thorough multiyear review of all credit union digital banking providers, the partner we decided upon brings the latest in terms of technology, customization, features and security. Some of those enhancements are as follows:

Best practice security enhancement – using a username and password instead of a member number along with other behind-the-scenes security enhancements.

Best practice digital application (app) enhancement – utilization of Touch ID to access Empower’s smartphone or tablet app.

Cross platform view – You’ll have the same user experience, whether you login via the web or by a digital app, except for the display space, based upon your customization choices described below.

Full Customization – use of themes, notifications, settings and linking of multiple memberships into one login.

Account History – online history will eventually build up to 2 years and formal archived statements for a longer extended period will be provided for you to access at any time.

Widgets – What is a widget? Without getting too technical, it’s really a mini program within an application that pulls or pushes data to a different source. We have new widgets such as transfers, bill pay, check reorders, savings goals, budgeting, edocs and rewards.

However, the most exciting is yet to come. Through the use of widgets, we can custom program in other vendor enhancements and even those unique to Empower. In early 2016, here are some of the exciting new “widgets” we plan to introduce:

Remote Deposit Capture – with remote deposit capture, those members that qualify will be able to take a picture of a check and digitally deposit that check remotely without going to a branch or depositing ATM.

Financial Services – for those members who use us for financial planning and investing, you will be able to see your investment balances when you login to our website or open our digital app.

Business Banking – a special widget (or app) for our business members who need special applications devoted to business banking.

Is that all? We are in the midst of evaluating a MasterCard program to offer electronic point redemption commonly referred as “pay with your points” wherever MasterCard is accepted. Regardless, we will be looking for ways to enhance our current rewards program, while still keeping what we already have in place.

We are also looking to enhance security by allowing you to have direct control over your new MasterCard Debit and Credit chip cards that technology would allow you to “turn each chip card off ” when not in use. If we cannot do this in a cost effective manner, we are looking to provide you, at least, with alerts when purchases are made. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

While we know we have made many changes this year, we see these changes as necessary just to keep pace in the new digital world. All of these changes were made not just for the sake of change, but to deliver the best possible products and services to you. One of our goals is to be one of the most technologically advanced credit unions both now and in the future. Thank you for your patience as we progress through change together.

Create your own personal username and unique password to log into online banking. After the initial conversion of existing accounts, you will no longer use your Membership Number to go into online banking.

• All accounts that you can access will display within your Online Banking experience. This includes all accounts that our records reflect you are a primary or joint owner.

• No longer toggle between multiple membership numbers. Accounts for which you have access to see, will display once you log in with your username and password.

EStatements If you are already enrolled in eStatements, no action will be required. If you would like to enroll, go to the EDOC widget and opt in to receive electronic statements.

Device RegistrationTo prevent having to answer security questions at each login, you can choose to save the particular device that is regularly used for online banking.

Account HistoryHave access to 2 years’ worth of account history. Initially, the system will display 4 months. Over time, it will build to display up to 2 years. Account histories are easy to filter when looking for a specific transaction. Filter options: date, category, amount, type of transaction or check .

Customize your account your way

ThemesYou now have the option to personalize the look and feel of your online banking experience. The theme can change with the seasons or your mood. Themes can be previewed by selecting the ‘Preview’ button. To make a theme active, select ‘Activate’ and the listed theme will become your background. Below are only some of the many theme options available.

You now have full control of your online banking experience. Settings can be changed:

• The theme (background)• Profile and contact information

Note: In account settings, accounts can be hidden and the account order can be rearranged.

• Notifications • Security questions

Settings is located under your username at the top of the dashboard.

WidgetsA collection of additional functions in online banking. Use the Widgets page to adjust what functions you wish to access. You can change the order, remove, or add the widgets that fit your needs.

Update your Empower App on a Touch ID-enabled device* today. You will be prompted to set up Touch ID (activation steps vary by device). No fingerprint reader? No problem! Set up a PIN for easy access to your account.

Seamlessly transfer funds to any of your accounts, or even another financial institution. With our new and improved online banking system, member to member transfers are now possible. There are many different transfer options. See below for more details.

Quick TransfersUse Quick Transfers to transfer funds between your accounts using a simple 4 step process: choose source account, amount, destination account, and select Make Transfer.

Classic One Time TransfersUse Classic Transfers to transfer funds to your accounts, pay loans and schedule future or recurring transfers.

Now you can transfer to other Empower FCU members. Click on ‘Add Account’ and select ‘at Empower Federal Credit Union’. A window will pop up prompting you to enter a name, member number, and sub-account (sub-account: savings enter 01 or checking enter 09. This has to be a two digit number). Once this information is established you’ll be able to transfer funds to this account. Note: Accounts have to be set up on a PC, then you can transfer from a mobile device.

Scheduled TransfersUse Scheduled Transfers to view information about transfers that have not yet executed. 1. The colored dates denote days on which at least one transfer will be executed. Selecting one of the colored dates will automatically highlight the scheduled transfer entries below. Conversely, selecting a scheduled transfer entry highlights the affected dates on the calendars.

2. The calendar icon displays the day and month on which the transfer is scheduled to occur. The first account listed is the account the funds will be taken from and the second account listed is the account to which the funds will be transferred.

3. The transfer frequency (e.g. monthly) is displayed next to the transfer amount. Schedule details (starts on date, number of transfers, ending date, etc.) display just below the amount and transfer frequency. The transfer memo is the final line displayed.

4. Select Edit Series to change the transfer schedule for the associated transfer.

5. Select Delete Series to delete the entire series of scheduled transfers.

6. Selecting Show Search to display search and filter options.Search Scheduled Transfers: Select Show Search to reveal different ways to filter the list of scheduled transfers.

Transfer History1. Transfer history entry displays the date the transfer executed, the source of the funds, and the destination account.

2. The 2nd column includes the transfer amount, the date of the transfer, and the description entered for the transfer.

3. The green checkmark indicates the transfer was successful.

4. Select show search to expose search and filtering options.
