1 My Own Civilization: Chapter 3 Introduction: In this chapter, you will be responsible to form your own civilization with two other group members! This project will be your entire grade for the chapter, which means NO test! However, you must make sure you are keeping up with everything, filling out the worksheets, and doing your job as a group member! This project will require you to think back to information from previous chapters as well as research information from chapter three. Chapter three covers the culture and people of Latin America. When you create your own civilization, your job will be to create the appropriate culture and people based upon your location of your civilization. Remember that Latin America has changed over time, so your time period will also affect the culture and people as well as location. This packet is your ticket and grade for Chapter 3. Each page has directions, an agenda, and a checklist to make sure you are staying on task! My Own Civilization: Chapter 3

Introduction: In this chapter, you will be responsible to form your own civilization with two other group members! This project will be your entire grade for the chapter, which means NO test! Day  One:  Introduction

Day  Two:  Location  and  Vegetation  

Today you will choose where your civilization will be located and discover the main crops of your civilization. Recall information from Chapter One about how climate is affected by location and what vegetation grows in certain climates. Below is your agenda for today as well as some questions to answer to prepare for your final presentation. Day  7  and  8:  Make  Poster  board  

Introduction: You are done with research!! Time to put it all together in a poster to present us with your civilization! You will have today and tomorrow to create your poster board! In this section you will find out what you need to put on your poster board, you will find an example, and you will put together your own poster board. What you need: Your poster should include the following information! A title: Name your civilization! Location: Show us on a map (you can use the map on page 7) where your civilization is located. Climate: Describe your climate of your civilization to us in a couple sentences. Vegetation: Tell us the vegetation we can find in your civilization. People:

- Where do the people of your civilization live? (Cities, country, villages, mountains, rain forest, etc)and WHY do they live there?

- What language do they speak? And WHY - What religion do they believe in? Use a couple

sentences talking about religion of the people. (what do they worship, how do they worship, etc)

- Describe their government? - Based upon their location, what kind of food do they

have and what kind of economy? - What is the social class like?

Summary: In a paragraph (you can use the back if you do not have room) tell us how the geography of your land affects the people living in it. ALL of these things must be included in your poster and presentation. Page 20 contains the rubric used to grade your poster.
