They provide lifes essentialssuch medicines, food, water andmost importantly, and readilyforgotten our AIR. Temperate and tropicalrainforests play a key role inclimate change helping toregulate the Earth'stemperature and weatherpatterns. These habitats need to beprotected so life as we know itcan sustain itself.
3. 3. Whats Happening? Land is being cleared forlogging and agriculture at ahigher rate than anywhereelse in Costa Rica. Illegal logging, and poachingand increased transportationthreaten the Osa Penninsula. About 20,000 acres of land aredeforested annually The production of grazingland, is another major cause ofdeforestation. Banana plantations alsocontribute to the shrinking ofthe Costa Rican wilderness
