Youth/TeenTumbling TotsThis is a great program to start your pre-schooler on their way to develop-ing basic gymnastics and tumbling skills. The kids, with the help of a parent and our gymnastics staff, will develop gross motor skills through tumbling, get an introduction to the various pieces of gymnastics equip-ment, and have lots of fun and games. A parent must participate! Rink Rat HockeySpend the best months of winter play-ing hockey outdoors! This is a co-rec program for boys and girls ages 5-12. The program consists of two pre-sea-son practices and instructional games every Friday evening and late Sunday afternoon from January 6-February 10. Coaches instruct and officiate all games. There will be no goalies, just goal cov-ers. Home games will be played in New Hope. Games will also be played in nearby communities. Games will be rescheduled in the event of cancella-tions (weather permitting). Participants must provide their own transportation and equipment (hockey skates, stick, helmet with mask, mouth guard, shin pads, hockey gloves, elbow pads and protective cup if applicable). Schedules will be mailed to all participants the week of December 26. League jersey and participation award will be given. Register by December 2. Activities include individual and team sports, rope jumping, racket games, kickball, tag games, capture the flag, four square, floor hockey, soccer, bowling, and many others. Lessons are designed to keep kids engaged in learning activities and to keep their heart rates elevated. Character building, cooperative skills, individual success, and safety are all emphasized. Bring a water bottle each day to stay hydrated. Register by December 23. New Hope Skating SchoolNew Hope Skating School classes are based on the Ice Skating Institute’s (ISI) Recreational Ice Skating Program for ice skaters 3 years of age and older. Beginner, Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta are all skill levels of the testing program. Classes are taught by Dawn Landon and her fine staff. Participants will need their own skates with guards. Students learn forward stroking, for-ward crossovers on right and left, and one foot snowplow stop.Beta: Passed Alpha or equivalent. Stu-dents learn backward stroking, back-ward crossovers and t-stops on right and left.Gamma: Passed Beta or equivalent. Indoor Open SkatingThe New Hope Ice Arena’s open skat-ing schedule for winter includes most Fridays, 6:30-8 p.m. and Sundays, 4-6 p.m. Schedule may vary. No rental skates available. A complete sched-ule is available each week at the Ice Arena. Call 763-531-5181 for more details.

Rockin’ Rackets Indoor TennisThis is a great way to introduce your child to the great lifetime game of tennis. Kids ages 4-8 will learn the basic skills of tennis in a very fun and non-intimidating way. Kids will be grouped according to their age and ability. Scaled-down equipment will be provided. All kids need to bring is a desire to have fun! 3D Racing Game DesignYouth ages 7-12, learn the basics of 3D game design and modification in our new class. Students working in pairs will learn how to use the Track Mania toolset to design custom race tracks, and modify custom cars. Re-create challenging elements of famous tracks and race your classmates. Track Mania lets students create their own tracks using a “block” process. Design ele-ments include: regular road, check-points, long bends, loop-de-loops, and jumps, which all snap to a grid automatically. Regular roads can be dragged to create straight sections as well as 90 degree corners. At the end of class students can download their own copy of Track Mania along with their custom car and track designs, or students can bring a USB drive on the last day for immediate access. Winter Ice Rinks and Warming HousesThis winter, ice rinks with warming house facilities will be maintained at Civic Center Park (44th and Xylon av-enues), Hidden Valley Park (32nd and Boone avenues), Liberty Park (60th and Gettysburg avenues), and Lions Park (38th and Oregon avenues). Each park will have a hockey and gen-eral skating rink. The rinks will be open from December 17 to February 12, weather permitting.Please remember that hockey sticks and pucks are only allowed in the hockey rinks. Faribault Woolen Mill – April 19The Faribault Woolen Mill had been transforming raw wool into beautiful wool blankets since 1865. A Miracle in Stone – June 5Come to the “eighth wonder of the world,” the Grotto of the Redemption, and witness a miracle in stone! The Grotto, nestled in the rural Iowa com-munity of West Bend, is a composite of nine separate grottos, each portraying a scene in the life of Christ. It includes the largest collection of precious stones and gems found anywhere in one loca-tion. On our journey to The Grotto, we will stop in Albert Lea for coffee and rolls at Trumbles Restaurant. Upon ar-rival in West Bend, we will dine at the Café. The menu will include marinated chicken breast and seasoned roast pork, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, corn, tea biscuits, dessert and coffee.
