Calling all Volunteers! To make this year’s VBS program a success, we need willing and able hands to help. We don’t need much — just a bit of your time. We’re seeking volunteers to give about 20 minutes on one Sabbath or more during the VBS program month. For more info, text VBS and your name and email address to 410-541-6394.

The theme for Vacation Bible School (VBS) this year is "Facing Fear! Trusting God!"

It is based on the Scripture from 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love and sound judgment."

Kids will be challenged to face their fears and trust God as they twist and turn through the roller coaster of life. This summer’s program will teach them that God did not give them a spirit of fearfulness but a spirit of power, love and good judgment.

Through the life of Paul, in the book of Acts, kids will learn to trust God to do the following:

๏ dare to change๏ dare to speak up๏ dare to believe๏ dare to stand strong๏ dare to trust God’

Each week, kids will choose a challenge dare to live out in their lives.

VBS will take place every Saturday from July 13 through Aug. 17, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., in the multipurpose room.

The program and its activities allow kids to connect to God's Word in a creative setting where the gospel message can speak to their hearts.

This year’s VBS director is Pamela Anderson, who brings more than 30 years of experience to New Hope, having directed various programs in small and large churches alike. Pamela loves kids and knows VBS!

Weekly ChallengeSpend some time this week to evaluate the relationship between how you may feel and the truth about God that remains true no matter how you feel. Just because you feel hopeless, does that mean there is no hope?

The Back Page follows the Bible lessons that children and youth are studying and serves to help kids and adults continue the spiritual discussion at home and establish patterns of a devotional life.

MYNEWHOPECHURCH.COM/GIVE

My aunt recently passed away after a gallant fight with ovarian cancer. She just knew that God was going to do something amazing in her life, so we confidently prayed for miraculous healing and for the power of God to be manifest in her life. We prayed that God would be glorified; for the strength and courage to believe. We hoped. But she got worse.

One night, my phone rang at 4 a.m. I feared the worst — news of her passing. But, to my surprise, it was my aunt on the phone. Her voice was shaky but strong. She asked for Jose and me to pray for her; to pray for a miracle. After we prayed, she was silent for a long time. When she spoke again, there was confidence in her voice. She said to me, “I am ready to die.” I did not understand what she meant. Her response contradicted what I was praying, that a miracle would happen to her.

A few days after she passed away, I finally understood. We prayed hard for the miracle of healing — that she would suddenly be cancer-free. We were looking, hoping and anticipating the miracle. The miracle did happen, but not in the way we hoped.

My aunt died loving and believing in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, as her Messiah, Redeemer and Friend. She died absolutely knowing that, one day in the future, she will be resurrected. And that is the miracle! The miracle of being resurrected, waking up healed from cancer, to see Jesus face to face. The miracle we had been praying and hoping for will be fulfilled. But in God’s time and place, not our own.

God is going to do something amazing in her life; He is going to resurrect her. That is the miracle! The miracle we can hope for and believe in.

What miracle are you hoping for today?
