•Every new employee must complete the I-9, no later than the very first day of employment
•Employers must keep the file on record—don’t mail it in

1. Keep this form on file – it tells you how much federal income tax to withhold from each paycheck
2. Ensure it is signed, dated & has a correct Social Security Number
3. Withhold according to allowances claimed & deduct additional requests
Workers’ Compensation
•Add your new employee to your workers’ compensation plan—it’s required by law
• It protects you from lawsuits if the employee is injured or becomes ill because of workplace conditions
