To The Cloud!SQL Server 2014 will offer users more integration with Windows Azure.

Users will be able to take a backup of a database and save it to an Azure storage account by pointing to a URL. There is also the Smart Backup feature, allowing SQL Server to decide if it is time to take a differential or transaction log backup.

Users will also be able to create a database in an on-premises instance, but have the data and log files reside in Azure.

Users will also be able to extend an AlwaysOn Availability Group by creating replicas stored in a virtual machine running in Windows Azure.

Microsoft introduced an interactive data exploration, visualization and presentation experience called Power View with SQL Server 2012.

Power View reports are presentation-ready at all times because they are always connected to your data.

Users can quickly create a variety of visualizations, from tables and matrices to bubble charts and sets of small multiple charts.

It provides intuitive ad-hoc reporting for business users such as data analysts, business decision makers, and information workers.

We can easily create and interact with views of data from data models based on Power Pivot workbooks published in a Power Pivot Gallery, or tabular models deployed to SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS) instances.

based on customer feedback helps customers maximize their existing BI investments by enabling

their use with the latest BI end-user tools and adds greater modeling flexibility to the BI Semantic Model.

Customers need to upgrade their Analysis Services instance and the Reporting Services add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Server (2010 or 2013) with this Cumulative Update to create Power View reports against their existing cubes.

The BI Semantic Model is one model for all end user experiences – reporting, analytics, scorecards, dashboards, and custom applications.  All client tools in the Microsoft BI stack – Excel, Power Pivot, SharePoint Insights and Reporting Services (including Crescent) – operate on this model.
