Lithgow Council has a commitment to foster a city where families, community and local services work together to promote an inclusive and safe environment that maximises child and family health, wellbeing and learning.

As part of this commitment, Council has developed a Children’s Services Directory. The directory will provide families with relevant information and better connect them with the services they need.

Included in the Children’s Services Directory are sections on child care, preschool, respite, early intervention, playgroups, services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, support services, emergency contacts, libraries, schools and public and recreational facilities.

For online parenting information we recommend you visit the Raising Children Network’s website at www.raisingchildren.net.au or the NSW Government Families website at www.families.nsw.gov.au.

Child Care & Early Learning CentresIt’s completely normal to have a million questions as you investigate care for your child. After all, you need to be comfortable with the choice you’re making. Visiting a centre is the best way to decide. It’s impossible to get a sense of an early learning centre from a brochure or website. You really need to talk to the educators, see the rooms and facilities and experience the feel of the centre. You’re welcome to visit your local centre any time and the Centre Director will be very pleased to give you a tour. Most centres off er preschool programmes and transition to school activities to prepare your child for school. Below is a list of existing child care centres in the Lithgow area.

Blinky Bill Portland Child Care Centre – off ers long day care, preschool and occasional care for children aged 2-5 years. The early childhood educational program is delivered by qualifi ed educators. The focus is on developing a sense of belonging, being and becoming in every child and their family.
