Introduction
The Paleo-Hebrew (Paleo meaning “old”) alphabet, also called Phoenecian has an
unknown origin. How it started and who started it has different theories. This book
is about my theory as to the meaning of each letter.
The names are based upon pictorial matches with the Greek Alphabet. The
names are therefore assigned, so as to identify them. Originally there is no evidence
to suggest the Paleo-Hebrew Alphabet had names. The letters LMD and LMBD
are pretty much the same, since LMD is unique to Paleo-Hebrew and LMBD is a
pictorial match to the Greek letter Lambda. LMD is traditionally a phonetic match
to Lambda; the „L‟, whereas LMBD is traditionally named Gimel, so it appears that
either LMD was a different phoneme or more likely the Paleo-Hebrew Alphabet did
not have phonemes, at least in the beginning.
It is well known that Paleo-Hebrew did not have vowels, at least. It was the Greeks
that added vowels to their alphabet, so again the Paleo-Alphabets may not have been
a spoken language. It may have been due to the popularity of the Alphabet that
resulted in the need to attach phonemes to them. My book, The Origins of the
Paleo-Hebrew Vocabulary A New Theory, explains how the vocabulary is derived.
The main theory I work off of is that the Alphabet is primarily pictographs with
ideographic meaning when combined with each other into a vocabulary.
My discovery of the Paleo-Hebrew Alphabet was that each letter corresponded to
a different Egyptian Hieratic character than the tradition has said it is. It was the
Egyptian God Re in Paleo-Hebrew from which I made my discovery. Knowing the
correct picture representations is the keystone to the whole language. With the
correct Egyptian Hieratic characters I then identified that an Egyptian Deity also
corresponded to each Paleo-Hebrew letter.
