Nevada Pathway Project Online Professional Development Background of the Nevada Pathway Project

The Nevada Pathway Project grew out of the Nevada Educational Technology Plan and statewide concern about student engagement and achievement. Stakeholders recognized that it is crucial that Nevada’s students are prepared for the demands of the 21st century. Nevada’s students are dispersed across 109,826 square miles, live in a variety of urban and rural areas, and can benefit from the links to the peers, experts, and the world through technology. Increased education technology, appropriately used in classrooms, is critical for meeting these needs. Nevada students deserve to use technology as they work towards academic achievement, develop career aspirations, and build cultural awareness. Nevada students must be prepared to compete in a global economy in which technology is an essential tool for success.
