To connect your PLAYSTATION®3 system to the Internet using Cable (without a router), follow the instructions below. This is a companion guide to the PS3™ system Network Setup online interactive tutorial.If you need instructions for DSL or for a cable connection using a router, please visit http://us.playstation.com/support

1 Make sure that your PS3 system is turned off and unplugged from the wall.

2 Position your PS3 system so you can clearly see the back panel connections.

3 Power down your cable modem at this time. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if you need assistance in setting up or using your cable modem. (Cable modem is not included with PS3 system).

4 Click on the PS3 system. This guide covers direct Cable connections to the PS3 system without using a router. If you would like to connect using a router, download the appropriate guide from http://us.playstation.com/support

5 Choose how you will connect directly to your PS3 system: Wired or Wireless. Not all modems have wireless capability. If you’re not sure, try the instructions below for a wired connection.

Wired - Proceed to Step 6 Wireless - Skip to Step 9

6 To make a wired connection from the cable modem to your PS3 system you will need an Ethernet cable. Both ends should look like the image shown here. >>>

Unlike a phone cord, Ethernet cables: -Areusuallyrounded(notflat) - Have eight tiny slots on each end (not four) - May have the words “CAT 5” on the cable

7 Look at the back of your modem for a connection port that looks like the image shown here. >>>

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into this port.

8 On the back of your PS3 system there is a similar port that looks like the image shown here. >>>

Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into this port.

9 Locate the power cord and insert the end shown here >>> into the PS3 system.

10 Once everything is hooked up, you can plug the other end of the power cord into the wall. WARNING: Do not plug PS3 system into a power source until all other connections are complete!

11 Make sure that your modem is plugged in and has been turned on for at least two minutes. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if you need assistance in setting up or using your modem.

Then,fliptheMain Power Switch located on the back panel of your PS3 system to the ON position. The ON position is indicated by a bar on the switch.

12 Turn your PS3 system on by either touching the power button on the front, or by pressing the PS button on your controller. Controller must be charged before use.

The power light will change from redto green and yourPS3 system will beep.

When there is a discinside, you will alsosee a blue light.

Now you’re readytoconfigureyourNetwork Settings.
