Network Proposal
Introduction
Prepared By Franklin Williams
The scope of this proposal is to create a better network for the Medical Practice that will allow them flexibility in the following categories:
Security Data Backup Network Scalability
ABC Medical PracticeCurrent Network Design The current network is nothing of
a business network. None of the locations are connected; each of the locations is running its own Local Area Network(LAN).
There is no Virtual Private Network(VPN) for the company to provide separation from the public network.
Some of the Hardware used in this network needs to be upgraded and additional systems added to ensure productivity among departments.5 Locations within the same city
City Center

Network Planning Work Break-Down Structure(WBS)
Planning will help keep the project in order and done in a timely manner.
Inventory of Hardware Network DevicesA complete audit of network combined with current & new devices
Inventory of Network Devices
Network Devices Need
10 Switches 5 Routers 5 DSU/CSU (Optional,
routers can possess this particular feature to cut cost.)
Server Equipment
5 Print Servers 1 Web Server 1 Application Server 1 Server (Linux OS)
Server Equipment Continue:
1 Directory Server for the Windows Server 2003/2008
1 Database Server
Workstations
48 Workstations 11 Printers
Software Requirements All workstation will be
configured in the same manner. An image disk will be created to allow greater flexibility when troubleshooting.
All workstations will be running Virus Scan, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Live for email solutions.
Applications such as Medical Management, Windows Server 2003, SQL and Fedora 8 will be hosted at the City Center location via VPN.
Medical Management

BENEFITS
Planning before it happens saves time and prevents the company from losing generated income. The scope of the Disaster Recovery Plan is to give the IT Admin a general idea of what to do in the event of an emergency.
Cost AnalysisAfter examining the Disaster Recovery Plan, lets take a look at the cost of a disaster from an extreme point of view. The most valued components of the Medical Practice is its servers to do business with the insurance companies.
Example: 3 Servers are down and none operational. Each server costs $6000 and it will take 4 hours each to get new servers online and operational.
In a single day, these servers generates $20,000.00.
Cost Analysis ContinueNow, I have created a percentage in which is more important to the company or should be of importance.
Application Server 20% of the businessWeb Server 10% of the businessDatabase Server 30% of the business
Known as Annual Rate of Occurrence = .6%Company Generated Income = $20,000.00 a dayCost of replacing servers 3 x $6000 = $18,000Known as Single Loss Expectancy = (20,000 + 18,000) = $38,000
Now we need to Multiply both ARO and SLE
.6($38,000) = $22,800
The Medical Practice needs to budget at least $22,800In order to deal with failed servers.
The Servers are60% of the Business
New Network Design Proposal
Offers scalability
- Hardware
- Network
- Wirelessly One central location for
backups Multiple Networks (VPN,
WAN, and LAN). Security Allows the IT Admin to
work remotely.
BENEFITS OF NEW NETWORK
Deploying New Network
Planning Installation of New Network.
• Current Network Scheduled Down-Time• Ordering Equipment• Installing Equipment•Testing New Network
Testing New Network
Through using a Network Testing Script, many areas of the network can be tested at once. This will ensure that there are no problems once the network is in place for business.
Organization TrainingNetwork Handbook
Office Supervisor Training Collections Training Receptionist Training Doctors Training Nurses Training
Once the network is in place, each department will be trained specifically for their position within the organization. I will also develop a section on the company’s intranet for further training of the network and how things work.
