DICE Team Update
Program Bug Discovered in EMC7100
Applies to Dealers on DBS 2.3.4 with Multiple Currency Indicator Set to ‘Y’
MNTEMRNT Rental Agreement Function
We are pleased to introduce the newest members of FDC and its extended family: Tom McCarty, Jorge Cobelo, Larry Brown, and Rose DeVera’s daughter, Emily Lauryn.
Tom McCarty joined FDC Solutions in June as a Project Manager. He has over 10 years’ experience working with Caterpillar and CAT dealers in the areas of DBSi tech-nical, DBSi deployments, and as an IT Rep in Singapore. In Tom’s spare time, he enjoys traveling, running, photography, listening to good music, all things Apple, and eating.
Jorge Cobelo (George) joined FDC in July. George has an extensive background in IT and experience working in an AS/400 environment. He is working on development pro-jects. George enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and fami-ly and is a big fan of all the South Florida sports teams along with the Florida Gators!
Larry Brown joined FDC in August after 24 years with Advanced Sys-tem Designs (ASD) where he worked on the iSeries team. For the last 10 years, he has worked with Caterpillar, moving dealers into and out of the Solution Center.
Most recently he supported the Caterpillar internal iSeries cus-tomers and has worked with many dealers to install and up-grade their dealership’s iSeries. He and his wife, Kim, have two children in college. Larry enjoys the outdoors and sports.
Congratulations to Rose and Denny DeVera on their new role as proud parents of a new, happy, and healthy baby girl.
Emily Lauryn was born July 19, 2012 weighing 4 lbs. 5 oz., 16 in. May Emily know health, hap-piness, and love all her life!
We regret to announce that Steve Bertolet has decided to leave FDC Solutions to pursue an opportunity with Accenture. We thank Steve for his contri-butions and service at FDC and wish him well. A replacement for Steve will be named at a later date.
Additions to FDC Staff & Extended Family
and Farewell
If you are a 2.3.4 dealer with Multi-
Currency turned on, EMC7100 may
abend when printing a customer
agreement with overtime rental
rates. This program is called when
the function MNTEMRNT, Rental
Agreement, is used.
This does not affect DBSi 5.0 deal-
ers, nor non-multi-currency 2.3.4
dealers.
FDC Solutions has a fix available
for this error and will implement
the change for you or provide
you the information to implement
the code yourself.
Please contact sup-
[email protected] if you
would like this program fix, and
we will work with you to schedule
its implementation.
New MOMP Interfaces Announced
CAT has just announced two new inter-faces for Machine Order Management Process (MOMP) orders, specifically Drill and Exodus (telehandler) orders. The new interfaces will do order backfills for initial order creation and new order acknowledgments for order updates. FDC Solutions is currently analyzing the interface details to determine the neces-sary changes.
Java Applet for DBS Parts Integrator to be Retired; SIS-DBS Integrator v3.0 must be installed
The existing Java Applet used to pro-grammatically transfer parts from SIS into DBS/DBSi is being retired. If you are a DBS/DBSi dealer using the Java Applet Parts Integrator, you will need to download he standalone SIS-DBS Inte-grator version 3.0 , available on the SIS website https://sisweb.cat.com. No changes to DBS are required. You MUST implement SIS-DBS Integrator v3.0 on all machines prior to October 31, 2012 to continue using SIS.
Parts Return Request (PPR)
CAT has announced that when a PRR (Parts Return Request) is assigned as part of the Core Return process, you now will be required to submit the PRR number as part of the Core Credit Re-quest (CCR) transaction. This will re-quire a change to DBS/DBSi in order to allow the user to enter the PRR and in-clude it in the CCR transaction. This new requirement will be in force as of January 20, 2013. We are currently working on the design for this project.
Builder G3
While not a DICE Team project, CAT has provided FDC Solutions with the AS400 code needed to use Builder G3 with DBS/DBSi. If you will be installing Builder G3, please contact us.

VisionLink is the Web application Caterpillar integrated with its Dealer Storefront web presence to track Customer’s and Dealer’s equipment health, location, and usage.
VisionLink I
FDC’s initial project (which we refer to as VisionLink I) replaces the exist-ing ProductLink mailbox functionality that CAT is retiring. VisionLink I downloads and updates DBS with Equipment SMU Machine Hours, as illustrated below: VisionLink II With Phase I successfully implemented at all FDC's ERP dealers, we have began Phase II of the VisionLink project. Phase II will download all 8 VisionLink data feeds into corresponding files existing on the AS400 IFS system. It will not initially update any DBS Databases, although the ProductLink Historical database is a possibility. This is targeted for re-lease in the third quarter 2012.
Are rising freight costs eating into your profit? Do your customers question the consistency of freight charges? FDC So-lutions offers dealers an affordable, sim-ple solution that ensures recovery of all freight costs and also lets customers know up-front what their costs will be. The following three dealers have recently implemented our no-fuss freight solution: Foley Equipment Kansas Thompson Machinery Tennessee and Mississippi Warren West Texas and Oklahoma
How to Deal with Java
Script Errors
Have you ever clicked a button or link
while browsing the internet and nothing
happened? Well, 9 times out of 10,
when “nothing happens,” it’s most likely
because the user has encountered a
JavaScript error. By default, today’s
browsers will not show you JavaScript
errors and that’s why we think “nothing
happens”. If you are just visiting a site,
obviously you can't fix the error but you
could notify the site webmaster and let
them know of the error. Or if you are
the webmaster/developer it's really
helpful to know where those errors are
so that they can be fixed. Exactly what
happens depends on the browser and
type of error, but in most cases some
sort of error notification will be dis-
played.
