SAP Knowledge Base Article Symptom l After upgrading to NetWeaver 7.3 (and Enhancement Packages) or 7.4 the custom logon screen no longer works; l You want to set up a customized logon screen for your Portal. Environment l NetWeaver Application Server Java l Enterprise Portal Cause In previous versions of the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal, like NW 7.0X, there was a separation between the Portal Logon Application and the J2EE Engine Logon Component, hence there were distinct steps to customize each logon screen. These steps can be found on the following SAP Help documents: For the engine: Configuring the Logon Screen For the portal: Customizing the Logon Screens In NW releases 7.3X and 7.4 the Portal no longer has a dedicated logon application and the AS Java Logon Component is the only one used to access both the Engine and the Enterprise Portal. Resolution l In NW 7.3X and 7.4, the Enterprise Portal no longer has its own logon page. Instead it uses the AS Java logon component, so in order to develop a custom logon page you must follow the steps described on SAP Help Developing a Custom Logon Screen . l For performing minor changes to the logon page, such as changing branding images, the steps are different and are described at the SAP Help document Configuring the Logon Screen . l If unexpected issues occur after configuring a custom logon screen or after an upgrade, such as the logon page is unavailable preventing user authentication, then you can change back to the standard functionality using the following steps: 1. Verify that the ume.logon.application.ui_resources_alias property is pointing to the Standard Logon Screen (See step 7. of Developing a Custom Logon Screen ); 2. If the issue persists after changing back to the standard logon screen and customizations to the standard authschemes.xml were made, substitute it for the standard one (See KBA: 1936725 - How to: Apply Standard authschemes.xml file back to a NetWeaver 7.3X and 7.4 System); If you are still unable to fix the issue, contact the BC-JAS-SEC-LGN team.
