Val and Peter Higgins are celebrating their 40thwedding anniversary. The couple, who live on Talbot

Road, Little Neston, were married on 3rd June 1972

in Bishop Eaton Church Liverpool. Last month they

held a family party with children, Christina, Suzanne

and Peter and Vals parents Ken and Bette Rodrigues

plus their new grandson Logan.

The children of St Winefrides Catholic Primary School celebrated the Queens

Diamond Jubilee with an old-fashioned street party, together with old-fashioned games.

The events went ahead, despite the school receiving very sad news that Father Gerry

Courell, the schools Parish Priest, passed away over that weekend, with many childrenand staff opting to wear red, white

and blue, rather than dressing in the

fashions of the last 6 decades.

Parents and friends were invited to a

coffee afternoon, organised and run by

the children of St. Winefrides School

Council; the children have decided

to donate any money raised to The

British Heart Foundation, in memory

of Fr Courell.l Fr Courell, a priest in Wirral

for more than 40 years, died from

complications arising from a lung

condition after he was taken ill on

Easter Sunday.

His friend, Bernie Phelan, the

chairman of the governors of St

Winefrides Catholic Primary School,

described him as Father

Courell as a man ofthe greatest integrity

and humanity.

from ex-Olympic Gymnast

Craig Heap who gave a

very entertaining assembly

for all the school,

CRiMeS reported to Cheshire police

in the CH64 area over the last month

include the following:

l Thieves broke into a unit on the

Clayhll industral estat and, onc nsd,

forced open a metal shipping containerand took a sit-on lawn mower, strimmers

and tools.

l A black Toyota Prius was deliberately

scratched by a vandal at Sainsburys,

Nston.

l Two grey Carrera Gryphon mountain

bikes were stolen from the garage of a

house in Springcroft, Parkgate. Also in

Springcroft, a front metal gate was stolen

from a corner plot detached house.

l A thief made an unsuccessful attempt

to brak nto a hous n Mllock Lan,

Lttl Nston, by usng a coat hangr on

the front door.

l A laptop, jwllry, travllrs chqus,

camera and iPod were taken in a burglaryin Dunstan Lane, Burton .

l A wrought iron bench was stolen from

l A break-in was reported at Parkgate

Thieves smashed a window in the

entrance door to gain entry.
