Central Nervous System• It consists of the brain and spinal cord. • It sends out impulses and tells the brain the senses you
perceive.

Peripheral Nervous SystemIt is divided into:• The Autonomic Nervous System• Sensory Receptors• 5 senses
![Page 4: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Autonomic Nervous SystemIt regulates our involuntary actions like:• Digesting food• Keeping heart beating
![Page 5: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
BrainIt is divided into 5 parts.• The cerebrum• The cerebellum• The brain stem• The thalamus• The hypothalamus

The Cerebrum• Responsable for voluntary acts.• Contains: intelligence, learning, judgment.• Divided into: Left and Right hemispheres.• One analytic and the other artistic.
![Page 7: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
The Cerebellum• Located at the back of the skull.• It balances actions in the muscles.
![Page 8: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
The Brain Stem• It regulates the flow of information between brain and body. • Divided into the pons and the medulla ablangata.
![Page 9: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
The Thalamus• Receives messages from the sense organs.• It transports them to a certain part of the cerebrum.
![Page 10: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The HypothalamusLocated under thalamus.Recognizes + Analyzes:• Hunger• Thirst• Fatigue• Anger• Body Temperature
![Page 11: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Sensory Receptors• Pain Receptors• Thermoreceptors• Mechanoreceptors• Chemoreceptors• Photoreceptors
![Page 12: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Neuron• Cells that transmit electrical signals called impulses.
![Page 13: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Depressants• Slow down heart rate.• Slow down breathing rate.• Lower blood pressure.• Relax muscles.• Relief tension.
![Page 14: Nervous System](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070420/56815ee8550346895dcd954e/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
StimulantsIncrease:• Blood rate• Heart rate• Breathing rate

Vision• Eye: sense organ that we use to sense light.

Hearing• Ears: we can distinguish the pitch of the vibrations in the air.
