President’s Report
Where we’ve been:
• The Foundation’s 2011 Annual Report was reviewed and approved by the Board and submitted to the license holder, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, in February 2012.
• The Board cultivated candidates for Director vacancies and actively sought appropriate candidates for other Board vacancies.
• The Board’s goal of raising $3.2MM in pledges and gifts by May 2012, prior to closing on 1525 Main Street was exceeded by more than $400,000.• This included $750,000 in cash to purchase the
condominium space. • Over $5MM toward the overall $7MM goal has been raised.
Where we’ve been:
• The Foundation hosted the fourth, most successful to date, Arts Humanities Awards event at the Log Cabin.
• Changed the name of the Foundation from WFCR Foundation, Inc. to New England Public Radio Foundation, Inc.
• Started NPR Diversity Training Program
• Approved the receipt of $1MM in New Markets Tax Credits.
Where we’ve been:
• Hired an architect, construction manager, and owner’s representative.
• The Board established a subsidiary 501 (c) (3) non-profit – NEPR Real Estate Foundation, Inc.
• NEPR Real Estate Foundation, Inc. closed on the property at 1525 Main Street, on Thursday, December 27, 2012.

A look ahead: The top board items in 2013
• Close on New Markets Tax Credits
• Ground Breaking Ceremony in early February
• Begin construction of 1525 Main Street in May
• Frequency expansion for all-news WNNZ
• Raise $2MM for the 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign for WFCR this calendar year

• Recruit new Directors to the Board, including a Vice President as soon as possible
• Discuss impact on Annual Budget due to shift in giving to Sustaining Partners (monthly giving) Program
