Nepal Rising is an all volunteer-run collaborative
campaign administered by Nepal Ko Yuwa (NKY), a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the US
(EIN: 45-2734874).
Nepal Rising constitutes 8 city chapters and 4
university chapters throughout the US working in a
federated model structure towards a common purpose
of building and supporting community resilience in
Nepal. Our strategy is focused on recognizing the local
assets and resources of a community and includes four
key components: local leadership development,
community engagement, community collaboration, and
knowledge building. Nepal Rising Seattle is the local
chapter of this campaign.
Since it formed in 2015, Nepal Rising has organized
several relief missions impacting approximately 5000
individuals, supported rebuilding of 8 schools,
supported construction of temporary shelters serving
75 households, invested in micro-hydro projects
serving 1200 families, initiated multiple sustainable
community farming projects, all towards building
community resilience in Nepal. Nepal Rising has also
facilitated distribution of essential medical supplies in
rural districts of Nepal during the blockade and
supported winterization efforts through the One
Suitcase campaign.
All proceeds raised through today’s benefit concert will
fund Nepal Rising projects to help build resilient
communities in Nepal, specifically the Seeds for
Resilience community farming project and Nuwakot
School Rebuilding projects. Your donations to Nepal
Rising Seattle (NRS) are fully US tax-deductible. Join
us and be a part of the resilience story!
