Shoreline Auditorium Shoreline, WA May 7, 2016 Saturday, 6pm PT Nepal Rising is an all volunteer-run collaborative campaign administered by Nepal Ko Yuwa (NKY), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the US (EIN: 45-2734874). Nepal Rising constitutes 8 city chapters and 4 university chapters throughout the US working in a federated model structure towards a common purpose of building and supporting community resilience in Nepal. Our strategy is focused on recognizing the local assets and resources of a community and includes four key components: local leadership development, community engagement, community collaboration, and knowledge building. Nepal Rising Seattle is the local chapter of this campaign. Since it formed in 2015, Nepal Rising has organized several relief missions impacting approximately 5000 individuals, supported rebuilding of 8 schools, supported construction of temporary shelters serving 75 households, invested in micro-hydro projects serving 1200 families, initiated multiple sustainable community farming projects, all towards building community resilience in Nepal. Nepal Rising has also facilitated distribution of essential medical supplies in rural districts of Nepal during the blockade and supported winterization efforts through the One Suitcase campaign. All proceeds raised through today’s benefit concert will fund Nepal Rising projects to help build resilient communities in Nepal, specifically the Seeds for Resilience community farming project and Nuwakot School Rebuilding projects.
