OVERVIEW: “LOCURA”, a fractional rigged sloop, was conceived from the initial design stage as a performance bluewater, pilothouse sailing vessel with lots of sail area for light air sailing. The sleek yacht is capable of long distance voyaging to any port in comfort and speed. It is presently in turnkey condition and ready for the next voyage. “LOCURA” completed an extensive refit (2003) by the original builder, Salthouse Brothers, in New Zealand. The refit involved a myriad of tasks, all done to enhance the ease of handling, reliability and comfort. An extensive list is available upon request but in brief, this refit included new hatches, new teak decking in the cockpit, aft deck and swim platform all done without the use of fastenings. The addition of a bow thruster, new “Park Avenue” boom, complete refinishing and servicing of the mast, new 14’ RIB tender w/ 60 hp Yamaha 4 stroke, plus a second 2.4 m RIB w/ 5 hp Tohatsu, new life raft, new mainsail, gennaker and spinnaker and complete hull and deck painting. Nearly $1,000,000 USD has been spent in upgrades. In 2006 the yacht was repowered with a John Deere 300 HP model 6068 SFM and new Twin Disk transmission.

The yacht offers a comfortable and practical interior arrangement. Rather than locating the owner’s stateroom in the aft section of the yacht, which can be subject to noise from machinery, “stern slap” and foot traffic, the owner enjoys a full width stateroom forward which is private from the rest of the yacht. Ideal for charter, long distance cruising and living aboard for extended periods, this yacht also sails exceptionally well as her designers have incorporated their experience in larger racing yachts, including those that have raced in the America’s Cup.

“LOCURA” is a yacht that as you get to know her, the more impressed you’ll be. We invite your careful review of this unique and lovely yacht.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION “LOCURA” is constructed in aluminum of marine grade alloy and built to American Bureau of Shipping approved plans. Hull and deck thermal and acoustical insulation is achieved with foam sprayed on to all inner surfaces from the waterline up, including

deck and pilothouse. The interior of the engine room is covered in acoustical sound absorbing foam rubber (covered by aluminum foil). Separate sound insulation box for the generator. The lazarette, lockers, paint/oil locker, sail locker and “garage” are painted in off-white Awlgrip but not insulated. Exterior is painted in Awlgrip with an emphasis on low maintenance. The deck is fitted with either built-in hand rails or stainless steel hand rails. In calm water, the yacht averages approximately 8.75 to 9 knots at 1,550 rpm burning roughly 3 to 4 gallons per hour. The top speed in calm water is 12 knots at 2,350 rpm with consumption of approximately 7 gallons per hour. Her range is approximately 1,600 to 1,800 miles at 8.5 knots under power. In calm seas the vessel will sail at wind speed to weather and easily reaches 10 to 12 knots. Off-the-wind, the vessel will sail 13.5 knots in about 25 knots of wind. Reaching, the yacht will be making 12 knots with 20 knots of breeze.
