BOUTIQUE NEWS:

Thank you so much for your generous donations last month! Keep them coming. Do you know that when you are donat-ing items for our Quilt Show Boutique you are donating to yourself? The net proceeds from our Boutique sales goes into our general quilt guild funds and pays for such things as speakers, rent for our meeting space, general supplies. So be generous and support your quilting habit! We have a table set up at the guild meetings that will be behind the membership table so you can bring your donations and drop them at this table – We will have this labeled “BOUTIQUE DONATIONS”. Mary Ann Robker will also accept donations at the monthly sewing bee. We are looking for

• Books you no longer use or need (great sellers)

• Quilting Patterns – new or gently used

• Sewing notions that are quilt

• Rulers! Rulers! Rulers! (good sellers)

• Quilting magazines – but no older than 2001.

• Small handmade items for babies & children, Xmas ornaments, etc. See below for ideas.

• Misc. quilt related “STUFF”

• Shopping bags

• Quilting Fabrics/Scraps – leftover from your projects, or something you will never use as your tastes have changed

• Batting Here’s a link for 2 small handmade items (mouse in a tin box & fabric chicken pincushion) you might consider making: https://www.theclothparcel.com/altoid-tin-mouse-house-tutorial/ http://www.quiltscapesqs.com/p/chick-pincushion.html

We are still looking for a small commercial space such as a couple of vacant office rooms for our boutique donations preparations. Please contact Celeste Wegner or Mary Ann Robker.

1. The 2017 Quilt Show financials were audited on January 3 by Trisha Rogers and Gwen Weakley. The fol-lowing notations accompanied the audit: • To begin discussions of increasing the retention funds to $10,000 in anticipation of change in venue that will likely cost more. This would require a bylaws change. • To discuss with the guilds and put to vote to return retention fund overages from the 2017 show in the amount of $287.45 per guild. Jean & Joy will put on the agenda for the March guild meetings. • To create the independent position of Quilt Show Treasurer to lessen the burden on the guild treasur-ers, increase the ease of getting a volunteer and to lessen the confusion regarding where expenses get re-ported. This would require a change in bylaws. Trish and Gwen are willing to work on the recommendation lan-guage.

2.

• Budget – The leadership group met and put together a preliminary 2018 budget which was discussed and amended line by line. See the attached budget sheet. • No one has yet volunteered for Secretary. Gwen Weakley took notes. • Brenda Pfannenstiel will check with the Lawson Bank on Antioch for the co-chairs, assistants and treas-urers from both guilds to go in and sign up to be able to sign checks to set up a time. There was no Treas-ure’s report only the final expense & income spreadsheet for 2017 quilt show. • Brenda will create a new expense form that will be required for turning in expenses or requesting a check. Form will be available in Dropbox and from either co-chair in addition to the treasurer.

• The show will remain at The Salvation Army on North Oak. We will begin to explore other options in the Northland for 2019. Need a volunteer to start the process.

• The show theme logo is in process.
