Drill down using the ‘Occupations’ tab to learn more about career tasks, salary (Note that you can toggle back and forth between annual salary and hourly rate of pay. Also, note the salary ranges. You will likely start out on the low end and hope to work up to the median salary. Only the top 10% of educated and exceptionally skilled individuals will ever reach that top end of the salary.)

VERY important is the job outlook information! Is employment expected to grow? If so, how fast? Be concerned if it is declining.

Step 6: Complete a short Skills Confidence Assessment—

To get to the next assessment, click on ‘Learn About Myself’ on the webpage’s banner. Then you’ll see this page and start the ‘Skills Confidence Assessment.’

2.Compare these career areas to your confidence in work skills

CONSIDER THE IMPACT ON YOUR FUTURE (COLLEGE EXPENSE VS. POTENTIAL FUTURE JOB AND INCOME POTENTIAL)

Step 8: Keep Exploring! Star information that you want to save to your portfolio. Click on the ‘View Occupations Suggested by Assessments’ and star and drill down as desired…—

4. You’ll also compare your areas of interest and explore career options at different education levels. You just may discover options you had never considered!

5. You will also consider future growth and income opportunities (Don’t just look at the high income potential. You will likely start at the low end and work toward the middle.) in potential career fields.
