OUR MISSION Showcase the cutting-edge neuroscience research conducted across the province.

Promote discussion and exchange to foster a collaborative environment for Québec neuroscientists.

Catalyze the diffusion of novel ideas in neuroscience and reveal their impact on health and disease.

Create a vision for the field of neuroscience, its future in the scientific community and its role in society.

Provide a venue for academic institutions and industry leaders to exhibit innovative tools and services that will benefit the vast neuroscience community in Québec.

The NeuroSymposium is an inter-university scientific event that gathers graduate neuroscience students from across Québec. This year marks the second edition of the event which will be held on June 15th 2017 at the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec’s Grande Bibliothèque, a landmark of culture and knowledge in the heart of Montréal. Organized by a committee of representatives from neuroscience student associations and research groups from Université de Montréal, McGill University, Concordia University, Université Laval, Université de Sherbrooke, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) et à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), this event is a fine example of scientific collaboration.

The NeuroSymposium provides attendees with the opportunity to present their work, in various forms, to their peers and other prominent investigators. The event aims to promote positive interactions to create lasting collaborations between neuroscientists across the province and beyond, pooling their efforts and resources to generate impactful research. The symposium is a unique opportunity to foster discussion and raise awareness about advances in the field that push the boundaries of knowledge, and the occasion to think about the future of neuroscience and its impact on society.

The province of Québec, and especially Montréal, is home to the largest neuroscientific community in Canada and is one of the major hubs for neuroscience research in the world, with an estimated 800 graduate students in the field. BENEFITS OF SPONSORING AND EXHIBITING

This year’s second edition of the NeuroSymposium will provide sponsors and exhibitors with the opportunity

to promote products and services to neuroscientists and research units from Montréal and Québec. Benefits

of sponsoring and exhibiting include:

On-site visibility for your company, with distribution of printed material, visual advertising, verbal

recognition, and sponsored awards, sessions, or lectures.

Ideal setting to connect and interact with young

neuroscientists, through exhibit booths

positioned in key high-traffic locations.

Interaction with rising neuroscientists provides

unique marketing opportunities as they are

well-informed about the specific needs of their

research laboratories.

Access to a diverse research community with

various needs and expertise. Attendees will

include graduate students, post-doctoral

fellows, research assistants, principal

investigators, and clinicians from all major

neuroscience research centers in the province,

working in various disciplines.

“Five-sense interaction beats the internet for creating a big picture view,

allowing serendipitous discovery, developing trust and evaluating people and products”

- Gary Shapiro

Our organizing committee is composed of students from various student associations with significant

experience in planning, organizing, and executing scientific events. Last year’s student-organized inter-

university NeuroSymposium was an astonishing success with nearly 300 neuroscientists attending the event

which boasted 80 poster presentations, multiple oral presentations, and a keynote lecture by a leading

expert in neuroscience of addiction, Dr. Roy Wise. Attendees and participants came from diverse

backgrounds including cellular and molecular biology, genetics, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology,

neuropsychology and neuroimaging. A lunch, a closing cocktail, and many coffee breaks throughout the day

provided opportunities for interaction and networking between attendees and exhibitors.
