Dr. Aravind S. Bharadwaj is currently Sr. VP – Advanced Technology and Services, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Prior to this assignment he was CEO – Automotive Infotronics Limited (Joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Continental AG) since April 2008 after serving as Executive Director – Advanced Engineering & Mission Summit at Ashok Leyland. Prior to these positions, he has been with TVS Motor Company, India, Delphi Technical Center, Singapore, GM Powertrain, MI, USA and GM R&D Center, MI, USA.

In these assignments, he has worked on Electric & Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Transmission & Engine Control Systems, Two-Wheeler electronics, and Commercial Vehicle Mechatronics and Telematics. He has published several papers in International Journals and Conferences and has three patents. He is a certified six sigma black belt and a Senior Member of IEEE.

He was a Director in the Board of SAE International for the period 2008-2010 and currently the President of SAEINDIA. He was Co-Chairman of the CII National Council on Technology for the period 2014-2016. Shankar is passionate about developing sustainable urban mobility solutions and his current interests span across electric vehicles, connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles.

Prior to joining Mahindra & Mahindra, Shankar has held technology innovation leadership roles at GE, Dow, Honeywell and Cummins. He holds ten international patents and numerous new product innovation awards. He has developed a proprietary innovation methodology – Innovation FLOW – and trained 1000 + inventors and innovators.

Shankar obtained a Ph.D in Materials Science and a gold medal for the best doctoral thesis from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He completed his executive management program from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
