Singapore - a land of opportunities - Are we World Class?
There have been innumerable articles, books and news items on how Lee Kuan Yew changed
the face of Singapore from a poor, badly managed, under developed country to one of the top
and enviable economy and investment destinations. Yew acted as a benevolent dictator and
many of his decisions were taken by himself without the support of anyone else. He was a tough
task master whose focus was on how a common man should enjoy his life. This meant drastic
improvement the quality of life of poor people. He did this not by giving them doles but by
making them understand that they are key stakeholders in the decision making of the country
and they need to work for the same. A country which was quite backward in the 1950s became
a leader of sorts by 70s. An impossible achievement!
But how was this possible? Among several approaches of Lee Kuan Yew, the following reforms are very important:
Housing for all the citizens.
Opportunities based on merit - whether it be education or job.
Technology enabled governance.
Quality and productivity expected in any work done in the country.
Rules are very user friendly but lack of adherence will lead to heavy punishments.
Greenery everywhere - planned green cover in every space available.
Pride in being a Singaporean.
Singapore has had all the problems that India has today. It is often said that Singapore is a very small place and reforms
are easy. But in India even in small states and union territories no major changes that are citizen friendly have been
brought about. You always note changes in any place once during your next visit. In my personal experience, compared
to the middle-east countries, the improvement in Singapore has been in leaps and bounds. I feel the main reason is that
every Singaporean has a pride in a positive way that he/she belongs to a superior culture. This culture is not just in
history books, but in reality!
In India, quite often we speak of our heritage, even without understanding the meaning. The astronomical achievements
of the ancient Indians are only hear-say stories now. Success in India is understood by the financial capacities and
possibilities underlying; this is so whether it is for a movie or for a human being. This is a sad state of affairs. In India,
educational qualifications are not very important (this is further emphasised by the star moviemakers in India like Mani
Rathnam who are supposed to express the sentiments of the younger generation). In Singapore, every educated person
is well respected. This is also because of the quality of education that has been created. Education at Singapore is
already at the top slot and is improving day by day.
Coming to our field of consulting - which is nothing but one area of knowledge management - Singaporeans have an eye
for doing things in a very professional manner. Increasing demand for accountants, MBAs, and other professionals like
doctors, etc. is making the country a centre of excellence. Some of the works we do like the process mapping, BPR,
pre-ERP studies, KRA/KPI consulting, etc. have enormous scope there. If we are able to provide world class service
delivery, there is a sure place for NCRCL® at Singapore.
Corporate training is another area that is gaining tremendous importance. The potential in this regard is also very high.
The Corporates are interested in any training that would make their organisation perform better through the improved
performance of the employees. There are training institutions originating from all parts of the globe competing with each
other for space. If we can make a top quality programme on any of the areas of specialization, then NCRCL can find a
place in Singapore.
If NCRCL® is really good, we can have opportunities referred to us by the Government of Singapore. They have several
agencies in the Government that engage training companies and consulting companies to provide service to the
Singapore executives. If we are world class, we can be there soon.
Now a question: are we World Class?

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success – The Law of Least Effort (From the book: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra)
The fourth spiritual law of success is the Law of Least Effort. This law is based on the fact that nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease and abandoned carefulness. This is the principle of least action, of no resistance. This is, therefore, the principle of harmony and love. When we learn this lesson from nature, we easily fulfill our desires.
If you observe nature at work, you will see that least effort is expended. Flowers don’t try to bloom, they bloom. Birds don’t try to fly, they fly. This is their intrinsic nature. It is the nature of babies to be in bliss. It is the nature of the sun to shine. And it is human nature to make our dreams manifest into physical form, easily and effortlessly.
Nature’s intelligence functions effortlessly, without friction, spontaneously. And when you are in harmony with nature, when you are established in the knowledge of your true self, you can make use of the Law of Least
Effort.
Least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love. When you seek power and control over other people, you waste energy. When you seek money or power for the sake of the ego, you spend energy chasing the illusion of happiness instead of enjoying happiness in the moment. But when your actions are motivated by love, there is no waste of energy. When your actions are motivated by love, your energy multiplies and accumulates and the surplus energy you gather and enjoy can be channeled to create anything that you want, including unlimited wealth.
There are three components to the Law of Least Effort - three things you can do to put this princi-ple of “do less and accomplish more” into action. The first component is acceptance. Acceptance simply means that you make a commitment: “Today I will accept people, situations, circum-stances, and events as they occur.” This means I will know that this moment is as it should be, because the whole universe is as it should be. This moment is as it is because the entire universe is as it is.
When you struggle against this moment, you are actually struggling against the entire universe.
Instead, you can make the decision that today you will not struggle against the whole universe by
struggling against this moment. You can wish for things in the future to be different, but in this
moment you have to accept things as they are.
When you feel frustrated or upset by a person or a situation, remember that you are not reacting to the person or the
situation, but to your feelings about the person or the situation. When you recognize and understand this completely, you
are ready to take responsibility for how you feel and to change it.
This leads us to the second component of the Law of Least Effort: responsibility.
Responsibility means not blaming anyone or anything for your situation, including yourself.
Having accepted this circumstance, this event, this problem, responsibility then means the
ability to have a creative response to the situation as it is now. All problems contain the seeds
of opportunity, and this awareness allows you to take the moment and transform it to a better
situation or thing.
When confronted with a difficult situation, remind yourself – “This moment is as it should be”.
Whatever relationships you have attracted in your life at this moment are precisely the ones
you need in your life at this moment.
The third component of the Law of Least Effort is defenselessness, which means that your awareness is established
in defenselessness, and you have relinquished the need to convince or persuade others of your point of view. If you
observe people around you, you will see that they spend ninety-nine percent of their time defending their points of view.
If you just relinquish the need to defend your point of view, you will in that relinquishment, gain access to enormous
amounts of energy that have been previously wasted. When you have no point to defend, you do not allow the birth of an
argument.

“Faith is a withholding of conclusion, so that you allow what is to arise.”
Adyashanti
If you embrace the present and become one with it, and merge with it, you will experience a fire, a glow, a sparkle of
ecstasy throbbing in every living sentient being. As you begin to experience this exultation of
spirit in everything that is alive, as you become intimate with it, joy will be born within you, you
will become light-hearted, carefree, joyous, and free. In this joyful, simple freedom, you will
know without any doubt in your heart that what you want is available to you whenever you
want it, because your want will be from the level of happiness, not from the level of anxiety or
fear.
When you remain open to all points of view - Your dreams and desires will flow with nature’s
desires. Then you can release your intentions, without attachment, and just wait for the
appropriate season for your desires to blossom into reality.
You can be sure that when the season is right, your desires will manifest. This is the Law of
Least Effort.
Applying the Law of Least Effort
I will put the Law of Least Effort into effect by making a commitment to take the following steps:
1. I will practice Acceptance. Today I will accept people, situations, circumstances, and events as they occur. I will
know that this moment is as it should be, because the whole universe is as it should be. I will not struggle
against the whole universe by struggling against this moment. My acceptance is total and complete. I accept
things as they are this moment, not as I wish they were.
2. Having accepted things as they are, I will take Responsibility for my situation and for all those events I see as
problems. I know that taking responsibility means not blaming anyone or anything for my situation (and this
includes myself). I also know that every problem is an opportunity in disguise, and this alertness to opportunities
allows me to take this moment and transform it into a greater benefit.
3. Today my awareness will remain established in Defenselessness. I will relinquish the need to defend my point of
view. I will feel no need to convince or persuade others to accept my point of view. I will remain open to all points
of view and not be rigidly attached to any one of them.
Summary
The law of Least Effort, the 4th law of Success according to Deepak Chopra requires actions that are motivated by love.
To apply this law, we need to
Learn and practice acceptance by accepting everything as it unravels.
Take responsibility for each and every action, word and thought
Consciously practice defenselessness which helps in accepting others’ perspectives.

Annual General Meeting 2011
Twelfth AGM – what’s so special about this that warrants a write up?
Mahamaham at Kumbakonam, and Kurunji flower at Kodai waits patiently for
12 years to celebrate/flower respectively. A dozen being a strong measuring
unit in business decides what you have achieved so far and thereby indicates
what is in store for the future. With this backdrop, NCRCL®’s Twelfth AGM
carried its significance. As usual, all sincere effort of finalizing
accounts early did not materialize and the AGM was scheduled during the
peak month of September, when all its shareholders are busy with last
minute demands of their clients.
The miniscule planning by R S Murali was there as usual and ably
supported by the consultants by preparing two sets of presentation slides
– one a synopsis on the clients/assignments for the year gone by, and
another a highlight of events/achievements to showcase to
the shareholders. The AGM took about an hour
wherein the statutory issues went by in motion
and some key issues of concern were also
discussed and agreed upon.
The presentation of the assignments
was done by C S Suresh
for Chennai and U S
M o h a n t y f o r
Bangalore. This
essentially gave
the confidence to
the shareholders
that NCRCL® is not
resting on its past laurels
but is making efforts to look at newer
areas and is willing to take up
challenging assignments. The blowing of
trumpet on the achievements was effectively
done by Rekha Murali and C S Suresh. Rekha
decided to focus on her forte – HR, CSR and ISO
related achievements, while Suresh decided to labour
through the various achievements of RSM in terms of his adding
qualifications, writing articles, presentations and training. The other
areas of highlight included articles by Rekha, additional qualification
by Kishore, trainings done by Ashok Rao, Kishore and Suresh. What
pleased most of the shareholders was when they realized the fact
that NCRCL® Chennai and Bangalore branch were regular in having
meditation sessions every Friday evening at the same time!
The presentations were brought to a close by R S Murali who sincerely and
honestly brought out the weaknesses of the team as a whole and in spite of all the
planning, were not close to achieving even half of the set targets. This definitely
indicates where NCRCL® stands today and the transparency with which the Organisation
operates.
The AGM ended with a sumptuous lunch, enjoyed and appreciated by one and all.

Health for you, Health for me
Preamble
Man and woman are one with human society and Nature, are Nature. We know by the Principle of Le
Chatelier (1850-1936), a kind of scientific confirmation of the old Law of Karma, that any action upon a
closed system generates an identical and opposite reaction. Since Nature is a closed system, almost
by definition because we call Nature everything in the universe, every human action upon Nature will
affect humans; it is an integrated and symbiotic system that always reacts. We also know that nature
is endowed with incredible self-regeneration mechanisms, we see examples in the sea, earthquakes, the tails of lizards,
the arms of starfish or our fallen nails that grow new again.
The prevailing medical model does not take into account those observable realities and believes, on one side, that one
can treat a part of the human body regardless of the reactions of the whole of Nature, and on another, separates
artificially people into patients and doctors, then to state that only doctors have the power to heal, let them be official or
"alternative". Worse, nowadays doctors are transferring their supposed power more and more onto drugs, so that
everyone has come to think that these are the sole agents of healing, with the possible exception of the chirurgians. It
seems a rather schizophrenic state of affairs for someone like us, who believe that we belong to Nature as much as it is
clear to us that we have a tremendous capacity to heal ourselves... as long as we trust it and do not let other people lead
us astray.
Definition of Health
Health is the ability to maintain that proper functioning of body and psyche that we perceive as wellbeing and to regain
balance by ourselves when there are tensions and aggressions of the environment, what we perceive as a disease.
Wellness and disease are two normal states of health.
The lack of health manifests in the inability to recover from any disease by oneself and requires the intervention of
"health facilitators" to help create the environmental, psychological, social, energy and body environments, such that the
person may recover the balance by itself. Non-health occurs when the person or the natural or social systems no longer
have the ability to recover the wellbeing state by themselves.
Health requirements
The requirements for health maintenance cover all aspects of that unity that we are. Listed below are some of the factors
that can be detected in healthy people and in healthy environments:
Spirit
Harmony with surrounding nature - not attacking or being
attacked by the environment.
Harmony with people with whom one lives and works
Inner peace, balanced emotions.
Love, open attitude to others, without barriers
Attitude of service and fulfilment of the duty.
Saying and defending truth and justice.
Psyche
Contentment with life - acceptance without frustration.
Psychological freedom - free movement of the psyche
Social and professional recognition.
Energy
Proper release of stresses induced by the activity and the
environment
Free flow of the life energy or prana.
Body
Healthy, balanced and comprehensive food
intake.
Suff icient movement - Sports and
extrapyramidal regenerating movement.
Adequate sex
Repairing of wounds
Environment
Health of the people we relate with
Nature's Health
Justice and apt social structures
Sufficient cleanliness and hygiene
Activity
That cares for Nature and People

Health Facilitators
For all that we said at the outset, we propose that men and women who are doctors, nurses, shamans, acupuncturists,
etc.. evolve into a role that is no longer that of "healers above patients, to cure them," but that of "people next to people
who need some encouragement, advice, corrections, education, modification of the environment, etc., in order to recover
their ability to heal themselves". The difference is indeed radical, but the transition is not at all traumatic, on the opposite,
it should be a joy for everyone who has taken the Hippocratic oath and for all of those who just love their fellow citizens.
Thus, a team of health facilitators should be able to help at all the levels mentioned above. Since health is the supreme
good of life, it is a right that society should guarantee to everyone. The health facilitators must be people who carry out
their work free of charge, without being a financial burden for those who need them. Ideally facilitators should receive
their income from the community, unless they have their survival and material needs met by other means.
Methods
Education. To educate is to elicit the capacities that we have inside, for instance, the one to heal ourselves. It also
means providing useful information in this case about all the above requirements and ways to succeed there.
Prevention. It's part of education geared specifically to avoid the typical pitfalls that lead to non-health.
Stimulation. One of the main tasks of the facilitator is to stimulate the self-regeneration capacity of the system when
there are problems.
Repair. Sometimes, for example in situations of physical or psychological trauma, the facilitator will use any means
at his or her avail, like surgery, psychiatry, acupuncture, seitai soho, etc.. To repair the damage that prevents the
autonomous recovery of the system.
Health is life itself manifesting at its fullness. Health allows us to achieve the purpose for which we have come into
the world, Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha: to do what we feel we have to, to achieve collective prosperity, to satisfy the
small desires of life and to free ourselves from suffering and all the rest through universal love.

Lookup
What Does It Do?
This function looks for a piece of information in a list, and then picks an item from a second range of cells.
Syntax
=lookup(lookup_value, lookup_victor, [result_vector])
The lookup_value should be a single item.
The lookup_victor in can select the table.
The result_vector must have the same number of cells in it as the Range to lookin.
Example
The following example shows how the =LOOKUP() func-
tion was used to match a name typed in cell D8 against
the list of names in A2:A6. When a match is found the
=LOOKUP() then picks from the second range C2:C6. If
the name Carol is used, the match is made in the third
cell of the list of names,
