Republic Act 9997 (Article II, Section 8, Paragraph H) mandates the NCMF to promote and develop the Philippine Halal Industry and accredit Halal-certifying entities/bodies for the utmost benefit of Muslim Filipinos and in partnership or cooperation with appropriate agencies, individuals and institutions here and abroad.

FUNCTIONS8. Coordinate and conduct continuing

consultative meetings with Muslim scholars, religious leaders, shari’ah experts and other stake holders involved in Philippine Halal Industry

9. Oversee and monitor the strict compliance of Halal standard and certification scheme, guidelines and procedures

10. Coordinate with the member agencies as identified under Memorandum Order No. 201, dated december 23, 2005. Issued

1. Introduced to the manufacturers and certifying bodies the new official Philippine Halal Logo. 2. Existing Halal-certifying bodies were encouraged to submit documents for accreditation. 3. Manufacturers were advised to encourage their certifying bodies to get accreditation from NCMF.4. Manufacturers were advised not to label Halal products that fail to comply with the pertinent Halal standards.

1. Meeting with Leaders of Halal Certification Bodies and other Religious Organization, May 28, 2013, NCMF Social Hall.

2. NCMF Halal Program Director Kim Edres, Comm. Demuna, Comm. Ebrahim and Dir. Jack Kanda with the representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Water, United Arab Emirates led by Dr. Abu Alush visited MMHCB and the DOST-ARMM halal laboratory in Cotabato City, June 7-10, 2013.

3. Comm. Esmael Ebrahim and Program Director Rueda Usman met with the Department of Trade and Industry to discuss possible revisionof the Consumer Act of the Philippines and integrating therein the policies and guidelines relative on Halal. February 7, 2014.

4. NCMF meeting with the Department of Tourism to develop a Halal Standard for hotels and restaurants to include Qiblah signage in hotel rooms and provision of prayer mats for every Muslim customer/clients and it a Halal compliant kitchen. February 18, 2014

5. NCMF officially informed the embassies of Muslim countries of the three accredited Halal-certifying Bodies with the request for assistance to convey the information to their appropriate government agency. January 16, 2014.

6. NCMF officially informed JAKIM of Malaysia and MUI of Singapore of the three accredited Halal-certifying Bodies and requested their recognition. January 16, 2014.

7. NCMF advertised in national papers about the NCMF Halal initiatives and the three accredited Halal-certifying bodies.

NCMF-BER promotes Halal Food at FoodTech Convention in SMX Center, Pasay City.

In line with the halal promotion and advocacy program of NCMF BER, Doctor Dimapuno A. Datu-Ramos, Jr.gave a lecture on the fundamentals of halal dietary law and the halal certification system at the Convention of Food Technologist of the Philippines that was held at SMX Center, Pasay City. Dr. Datu-Ramos Jr. together with the halal technical staff of NCMF stressed that halal food is also for the non-Muslims because it is all about safe and healthy lifestyle.
