Cancer Information Service Contracts

• Service to the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the U.S.- associated Pacific Territories

• 15 CIS contracts to operate the Partnership Program awarded January 15, 2005

• 3 of the contracts also operate a Contact Center • These 5 year contracts (2005 – 2010) are

awarded to NCI designated cancer centers and academic institutions

• Implementation of investigator initiated collaborative health communications research studies

• CIS Research Agenda• 6 R21 pilot grants - promote innovative research

in cancer communications. Development and testing of national, regional, or community-based interventions that increase the utilization of cancer information by the underserved and the impact of receiving such information
