This is where learning happens.

Sometimes, a classroom is more than a space fi lled with desks, students and a professor. Sometimes it’s a gateway—a place where we fi nally begin answering the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” At North Carolina A&T State University, we o er students the chance to see themselves in the careersthey’ve dreamt of pursuing. That means ensuring that the learning experience at our university mirrors the world awaiting our students after they leave. Because at A&T, a degree doesn’t mean you’re fi nished learning. It means you’re about to begin making a di erence in the world.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association, Inc. and the over 40,000 alumni we represent, it is with great enthusiasm that we invite you to return home to celebrate the 2011 “Greatest Homecoming on Earth”. We will meet and greet and reminisce about all that we love about North Carolina A & T. We will show our Aggie spirit as we cheer for our football team. We will tailgate and party and remember the good times we had “in our day”. And, I hope, you will all walk the beautiful campus, where we got our start, and be amazed! What a great opportunity to reconnect to all that we hold dear about our alma mater!

Please join us at the Sheraton Four Seasons for an entire weekend of exciting alumni activities, hospitality and events. You can shop at the vendors pavilion and get fantastic buys on apparel, art, jewelry and other merchandise. Friday night, you can enjoy the “The Legends of Soul” The Stylistics & The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston & Blue Lovett, sponsored by the A&T Foundation. On Saturday night, please join us for the O.S. P. Band in the Guilford Ballroom. Finally, on Sunday morning, please join the Alumni family as we gather at the Alumni Association’s Affirmation Service.

Homecoming is where we, as alumni, celebrate those cherished times spent at North Car-olina A&T. It’s an opportunity for us to collectively reflect on the significant role our alma mater had in helping us chart our course for reaching our goals and realizing our dreams. As we share in the joy of “Being an Aggie”, remember that as dedicated alumni we have the responsibility and opportunity to champion the Alumni Association and A&T. Even after the last song has been played at Homecoming, “Being an Aggie” means that we support both organizations to insure that both will continue to thrive and that what we experienced will be our gift to future generations.

Come! Celebrate! Enjoy! And, Support our alma mater during the 2011 edition of the “Greatest Homecoming on Earth.” We look forward to celebrating with you. Aggie Pride!

North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming Committee has been diligently working to ensure that the institution continues to live up to its reputation of having “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth.” Since January, committee members, who represent areas throughout the campus and alumni, have been evaluating, brainstorming and strategizing ways to maintain the Aggie traditions as they plan Homecoming 2011. Events for the Aggie Explosion, which draws over 40,000 people and pumps more than $12 million in the economy, have been carefully scheduled. The homecoming blue print offers activities for all ages. Committee members are excited about the upcoming celebration, however, they know that from Oct. 8 – Oct 16 they will be like bees as they buzz all over the campus performing their various tasks. Many of them are alums and are looking forward to reminiscing with former classmates and friends about the good old days. Although the group will be working long hours, they will still find time to enjoy the festivities. They recently shared what they enjoy most about homecoming.

"I've been involved in the planning of Homecoming for at least 20 years and I'm always excited to see everyone enjoying all of the festivities associated with homecoming. Ultimately, the best part for me is seeing all the alumni who return to reconnect and reminisce about their time spent at A&T. It is an amazing sight to see all of it come together. We appreciate the continued support from our community and the City of Greensboro.” Leonora C. Bryant

“I enjoy seeing so many of our alumni, many of whom I only see at Homecoming. There are some older alumni who come to Greensboro and just stay in the hotel to be a part of the weekend. They can no longer maneuver the stadium action so they hold tight to their seats in the lobby where they can see everyone.” Deloris C. Chisley

“I enjoy seeing the stadium filled with vendors. Seeing the stadium filled with vendors mean more scholarship aid for our students.” Marcella Green Mclean

"Homecoming is North Carolina A&T's family reunion. It is a time when old and new alike come together as one to celebrate this great institution. Homecoming is Aggie Pride." Christopher J. Wade

“I enjoy seeing the live bands perform R&B and Go-Go music at WNAA Aggie Fan Fest Stage and the Annual Homecoming Parade.” Ezinma Murphy

“What I enjoy most about homecoming is that it’s more than the reunion of the Aggies I went to school with, but the union of the entire Aggie Family.” Louisa V. Thomas

“I enjoy the energy and sense of excitement associated with bringing so many members of the Aggie Family “home” to celebrate the many accomplishments, endeavors, and experiences of this great university.” Shauna Y. Irwin

“I like homecoming when my customers come in early on Friday around noontime and we catch up on what has happened since last homecoming and they always ask.... Are you still here?” Pasty Frazelle

Homecoming Perspectives North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming Committee

“What I like most about homecoming is the festive spirit. I like seeing old friends bump into each other and hearing all of the back in the day stories being exchanged. I love the look on their faces when they see all the new buildings and admire how things have changed. Homecom-ing at A&T feels like one big family reunion. Aggies young and old get to celebrate the one thing they all have in common – Aggie Pride!” Samantha Hargrove

“As manager of the Aggie Funfest, it’s a pleasure to provide the citizens of Greensboro and all visiting A&T Alumni with a free, family-friendly festival that celebrates A&T’s Homecoming spirit and energy.” Josh Sherrick

"When everything is over and you have a chance to look back on everything that went down, then you realize just how much went into it and what a special group of people it takes to pull off such a magnificent event." Ryan Maltese

"It really is a delight to see all the planning come together. Especially watching the children; those who will participate and watch the Homecoming Parade. Everybody loves the bands." Denise Iverson Payne

“I enjoy greeting and welcoming alumni and friends that I have not seen for almost a year. Perhaps it’s because I’m older and hope-fully wiser that I can look back and realize how blessed I am to share in another homecoming. NC A&T Alumni are a unique group of people and there is such a bond amongst them.” Beverly “BJ” Parks

“I enjoy the Aggie alumni returning to renew their Aggie spirit. It's great to see that friend that you haven't seen since graduation. All the great memories return and the Aggie Spirit is renewed.” Carey Baldwin

“Here at the Bookstore we enjoy all the excitement associated with Homecoming. We enjoy seeing the alumni who come back each year to shop at the store, looking for new Aggie paraphernalia to add to their collection or even to just visit with us. It's great to know that all the planning and execution of this Great event is appreciated.” Donna Morris-Powell

“The things that I enjoy most about Homecoming are the number of friends and family that come home for the events. I also enjoy the positive and festive atmosphere that Homecoming provides. Let's not forget tailgating, everyone seems to be very loving, caring, and sharing as they reminisce about old times.” Harold Seegars

“During homecoming, it is a joy to see the enthusiasm of the crowd. Their expressions tell the story of why we, the Aggies, have the “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth. “ Nettie Rowland
