National Board of AccreditationØ The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India was initially established by AICTE, in the year 1994,

for evaluations of technical institutions, with the objective of Assurance of Quality through the mechanism of accreditation

Ø NBA has introduced a new process, parameters and criteria for accreditation in line with the best international practices and oriented to assess the outcomes of the programme in accordance Washington Accord.

The Washington AccordØ The Washington Accord was signed as an International Agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting

undergraduate engineering degree program to encourage and facilitate the mobility of engineering graduates and professionals at international level.

Ø India is ofcially a member of the Washington accord from 13th June 2014. The only body eligible for accreditation of the Engineering courses which can enjoy the privileges of the Washington Accord is “National Board of Accreditation” (NBA) in India.

Ø All leading countries of the world including United States, UK, Australia. Russia, Canada, China, Hong Kong,India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey and Sri Lanka are signatories of Washington Accord.
