Education is the most peacefully powerful weapon that can change the world. At
Navjeevan Trust academic excellence is commended and moral and value based
education encouraged. Given below are the activities carried out in our different
centers.
SHARAPAD
Republic day was celebrated in 3 villages for 1375 students.
A number of cultural competitions were conducted such as dance, speech,
songs, memory test, mono acts, etc. A total 80 participants were present.
Kite festival celebrated in 17 Balmandals
The 1st round of the Olympiad exam had 304 participants from 15 schools.
Monthly meetings were conducted in 20 balmandals with 530 members.
Balpanchyat monthly meetings were held in 3 villages and 530 members
attended.
LODHIKA
Monthly meetings conducted in 31 balmandals with a participation of 520
members.
Kite festival was celebrated with the participation of25 students.
On the occasion of Republic day a cultural program with speeches, songs,
dances, standup comedy was held and participated by 60 students.
The 1st round of the Olympiad exam was conducted for94 students.
DEPARTMENT OF LIVELIHOOD
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
NT trains young people from poor communities to upgrade their skills and
join as skilled work force in different growing sectors of the economy.
Training and placement schemes are
run in partnership with the Ministry
of Rural Development(MoRD) Govt Of
India, and Mission Mangalam, Govt of
Gujarat. Training is done through 5
different programs which caters to
different sections of the youth.
a) DDU-GKY: Deen Dayal
Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana is the skilling and placement
initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development(MoRD), Government of
India. Implementation of DDU-GKY involves State Governments, Technical
Support agencies like the National Institute of Rural Development and
Panchayati Raj (NIRD& PR), and Project Implementing Agencies(PIAs).
C.N.C- (Computer Numerical Control) where accurate metal cutting
via computer based programs is done. The basic training of this is
done at our centres.
D.T.P- (Desktop Publishing) Students are trained on all aspects of
print publishing processes, right from deciding a design to the
printing and finalizations of the product.
E.M.R- (Electric Motor Winder)where students learn everything
there is to know about
electric motors.
F.O.C.R(Front Office
Cum Receptionist)
Teaches students to be
smart, approachable
and to create the right
students learning about CNC machines through practical's
impression to attract people to wherever they are placed.
B.S.A- (Bedside Assistant) given basic medical training to help
doctors and practitioners in any medical field.
M.C.R- the Motorcycle Repairing course teaches hands on skill to
carry out any kind on repairs on two and three wheelers.
F.A.B- (Fabrication and Arc welding Basics) Students are taught
metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering.

B.S.A Practicals
Case Study
Bhankhodiya Jayanti is from Navasadudka village. He
belongs to poor family. After completing his 10thstd
he stopped studying to help provide for his
struggling family. He was working as a hired labor
at construction sites. On coming to know about
DDU-GKY program and he enrolled his name for
D.T.P TRADE. Presently he holds an office job at
Antila Ceramic and now earns a decent salary of
10,000 per month.
b) Bhadte kadam: This projects works with a aim to create employment
opportunities for local and marginalized youth which brings improvement
in their standard of living.
A soft skills program at Bhimrana
c) C.E.D(Centre for
entrepreneurial development):Is for
existing and budding entrepreneurs.
Helps in the development of skill,
confidence and other entrepreneurial
activities to overcome many hurdles
faced by every business.
d) GULM: Through building strong grass-root level institutions, GLUM
encourages self-employment to people living in backward urban areas to
reduce poverty. Presently there are 2 effective centers at Morbi and Rajkot.
e) PANKH: PANKH aims to empower People with Disabilities within the state
of Rajkot to lead a normal life by providing training and employment
opportunities in the retail industry. So far 19 students have been trained
and 9 have been successfully placed.
Success story:
Manish is an orthopedic patient, wanted to be like all the other youngsters his
age. But his disability and lack of financial security held him back. The intervention
of Navjeevan Trust through PANKH helped him receive retail training for two
months. Soon after he managed to nab the position of a cashier at Big Bazar and
currently earns about 9000/- a month. He is overjoyed that he can finally lead a
normal life.
MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH
Facilitated Health and Nutrition Day in 5 villages at Lodhika
GIDC. Total 26 new ANC registered for Ante Natal Service,
facilitated 25 Institutional delivery, 27 Ante Natal Women
completed their 3 ANC Check-ups, 04 Female Sterilization and
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
07 Copper-T insertion for spacing. Conducted "Mission Indradhanush" for complete
immunization of children.
CBCI-CARD RNTCP PROJECT
We are implementing two TB Schemes namely TB Urban Slum and TB/HIV scheme in Rajkot
city. During the month we screened 3163 people and out of them 143 suspected had their
sputum tested and 23 CXR(chest radiograph), a total of 09 patients found TB Positive and put
on DOTS.
COMBATING HIV /AIDS
Navjeevan Trust covers 12300 MSM, FSW &
migrants who are susceptible to HIV/STIs
infections. During the month we attended to
3791 HIV affected people through our 213 out
-reach sessions and 04 canopy shows , 706
High Risk Groups received medical check-up's
& counseling, 109 HRG tested for HIV.
CLINIC SERVICE
We provide quality health care services to 1371
rural and migrant people through our 4 rural
health centers ad 18 general health camps through Targeted Intervention Projects.
General Health Camps were organized at Metoda and Lodhika in collaboration with Kirloskar Oil
Engines ltd and Lions Club, 134 patients were tested and treated respectively.
VECTOR BORNE DISEASE CONTROL
PROJECT
We are implementing
VBDCP Project at
ceramic Industrial areas
and farms of Morbi
District and GIDC
Lodhika covering
approximately 83,000
migrant population. 4186 houses surveyed for vector borne
diseases and 6234 water containers checked. Total 312
Blood Samples collected, 396 RD water testing kits were
used.
Throughout the month of January'2016 the Women Empowerment Department
arranged several activities through our three key centers the details of which are
mentioned below:-
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Navjeevan Trust has been Selected for the 3rd time to conduct the ' Nai
Roshni ' Program - A program by the Ministry of Minority Affairs -
Government Of India where mobilization and training of 575 minority
women will take place.
Navjeevan Trust along with Kirloskar Oil Engines as a funding partner,
started sewing classes In Vad-Vajdi village. A minimum of 20 women will
receive training in stitching, needlepoint and needlework completely free of
charge for three months.
Navjeevan Trust in collaboration with Rajkot Municipal Cooperation has
arranged a Wall Painting Competition. (Mission Smart City Trust.)
JEEVAN JYOTH ASHRAM - RAJKOT
Jeevan Jyoth Ashram held its Monthly Meetings in 60 groups for the
SHG's
Mobilized women from rural areas for ' Nai Roshni '. (A project by
Ministy of Minority Affairs - Government Of India).
Started 2 new Mahamandals
SARAPDAD
Snehdhara Aashram held its Monthly Meetings in 29 groups for
SHG's
Mobilized women for ' Nai Roshni '.( A project by Ministy of
Minority Affairs - Government Of India).
LODHIKA
Navjeevan Welfare Centre held its Monthly Meetings in 54 groups
for SHG's.
Formed a new SHG.

Special Mentions:
On the 29th
of Jan, S.N.K
Mahila college Rajkot, visited
Navjeevan Trust in order to
better learn about how an NGO
works. A senior member of
Navjeevan staff explained in
detail the different plans and
projects to the students who
were eager to learn the complex
dynamics of the working of the
trust. The lecture was
captivating and interactive which kept the lecturer on his toes and the students
satisfied.
Our Major Interventions: Educational support to Rural & Slum
children, Child rights & Protection, mother & Child health
programmes, rural Health services, Targeted intervention project –
core composite group( MSM & FSW, Migrants), Rehabilitation of
disabled, Women Empowered Program, Livelihood Promotion &
Employability Training, Disaster Mitigation and Meals on Wheels
(Providing food to 45 poor bed ridden people daily)
