    Brakes

The arms and service head are held in place by pneumatic brakes in the

    swivel joints.

    WARNING:

The Navigator Equipment Management System is a heavy

unit. Although easy to move, the momentum of a moving arm

and service head can deliver a strong impact. Personal injury

or equipment damage can occur from collision with a moving

    arm and service head.

    WARNING:

Do not position the service head over the patient area.

Improper positioning could result in patient injury or

    equipment damage.

    WARNING:

Secure all equipment on the service head prior to moving it.

Failure to do so can result in items falling and injuring patients

    or caregivers or equipment damage.

    WARNING:

Practice proper line management when moving the service head.

Failure to do so can result in patient injury.

Prior to moving the service head, ensure all lines attached to the patient are of sufficient length and

position to prevent them from being pulled out of the patient.

To operate a brake, locate the buttons on the brake handle needing released. A hiss will be heard as the

brake is released. Position the arm in the desired location. When the arm is in the desired location,

release the button and the brake will be set.

The brake release buttons are located either on the handle on the service head, or if installed, on the

    handle on the shelf.

A label at each brake button shows the brake, or brakes, being released when that button is pushed.

    Accessory Rail

The accessory rail is used to mount various accessories on the service head. For a list of accessories see

    Accessories on page 12.

The safe working load for the accessory rail is 22.5 lb (10.2 kg) in relation to safe working load of shelf.

rods. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.

    CAUTION:

Do not use harsh cleansers/detergents, such as scouring pads and heavy duty

grease removers, or solvents such as toluene, xylene, or acetone. Equipment

    damage could occur.

If there is no visible soilage with possible body fluids, we recommend that you clean the unit with a mild

    Safety Tips

    SHOCK HAZARD:

The potential for electrical shock exists with electrical equipment. Establish policies and

procedures to educate your staff on the risks associated with electrical equipment.

    WARNING:

arm and service head can deliver a strong impact. Personal injury or equipment damage can

occur from a collision with a moving arm and service head.

    WARNING:

Bumping into the service head can cause it to move. It is imperative that IV tubing be of

sufficient length to accommodate inadvertent movement of the service head. Failure to do so

could result in patient injury or equipment damage.

    WARNING:

Do not position the service head over the patient area. Improper positioning could result in

    patient injury or equipment damage.

    WARNING:

Do not exceed the 88 lbs. (39 kg) limit for the shelves. Exceeding the weight limit can cause

    personal injury or equipment damage.

    WARNING:

Practice proper line management when moving the service head. Failure to do so can result in

    patient injury.

    CAUTION:

IV poles on beds or stretchers may be located in close proximity to equipment on the service

head. Take care to prevent collisions between other equipment and service head-mounted

equipment. Failure to do so could result in equipment damage.
