    Other Upgrade Considerations

    • 11.2.0 only supports Windows Server 2019, Windows 10, SQL Server 2016(SP2+), Oracle DB (11.2.0.4+, 12.1.0.1+, 12.2.0.1+)

    • 11.2.1 added support for Windows Server 2016, Google Chrome* & MS Edge* • 11.2.2 added support for Linux 7, Red Hat 7 & Oracle DB 19C. Removes support for

IE.• 11.2.3 released this month with bug fixes for Windows and Linux only, support for

TLS 1.2, and the ability to apply an update directly from Release 11.2.1 or Release 11.2.2

    • Essbase sourced Financial Reporting Reports cannot be migrated. Must recreate from scratch.

  • Navigating the Oracle EPM 11.2 Upgrade 10Confidential & Proprietary

    Other Upgrade Considerations

    • 11.1.2.4 shipped with Java 1.6 but 11.2 ships with Java 1.811.2.1

    • Weblogic has gone from 10.3.6.0 in 11.1.2.3 to 12.2.1.3 in 11.2

    • Oracle HTTP Server has also skipped versions going from 11.1.1.7 to 12.2.1.3

    • Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 was an option in 11.1.2.4, TLS 1.2 is supported out of the box in 11.2

    • Reporting Analysis Framework has been eliminated

  • Navigating the Oracle EPM 11.2 Upgrade 11Confidential & Proprietary

    Discontinued Features/Tools• Hyperion Financial Management

    • Financial Management Analytics• Essbase Analytics Link for Hyperion

    Financial Management• Quantitative Management and

    Reporting for Solvency• Hyperion BI+

    • Interactive Reporting (IR)• Production Reporting (SQR)• Web Analysis (WA)

    Migration

    • EPM 11.2 is an Out-of-Place install• The only supported upgrade path to 11.2 is 11.1.2.4• Any prior versions (11.1.2.3 and earlier) must upgrade to 11.1.2.4.x

before going to 11.2. **LCMs from 11.1.2.4 only supported.• High Level Summary

    • Refer to the “Oracle 11.2 Support Matrix”• Install 11.2 on new hardware with supported OS, prerequisites• Use LCM from 11.1.2.4 to artifacts to 11.2

    https://www.oracle.com/a/otn/docs/epm-11.2-cert-matrix.xlsx

    Preparation RemindersWindows Servers

    • Apply Windows updates and reboot servers• Validate ports/resolve any conflicts• Disable UAC• Synch the clocks of all the servers in the install• Disable the Anti-virus software during the install. • Establish shared file systems used in the install

Install Account• Do NOT use the Administrator account to install• Create or use an account with the following Local Policies:

    • Act as part of the OS• Bypass Traverse Checking• Log on as a botch job• Log-on as a service

    • Pre Config – Ensure all necessary databases and logins have been created

    RCU (Oracle Repository Creation Utility)

    • For 11.1.2.4 and prior this was not a concern during setup unless you used ODI, Financial Close Mgmt Suite or OBI

    • 11.2 requires the RCU process is completed before attempting to create the WebLogic domain and deploying EPM Foundation web service

  • Navigating the Oracle EPM 11.2 Upgrade 15Confidential & Proprietary

RCU Prep• If using MS SQL Server

    • An empty database must be created• Queries must be executed:

    • ALTER DATABASE DATABASE_NAME SET READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT ON • ALTER DATABASE DATABASE_NAME SET ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION ON• ALTER DATABASE DATABASE_NAME COLLATE LATIN1_GENERAL_CS_AS

    • If using an Oracle database, RCU creates the schemas and associated users for you• Note for distributed environments – per Oracle’s recommendation use 1 Oracle

Schema or 1 MS SQL Database per RCU Prefix. So use a different prefix for each machine.

  • Navigating the Oracle EPM 11.2 Upgrade 16Confidential & Proprietary

    RCU

    • Run RCU from Oracle/Middleware/oracle_common/bin/rcu.bat using the instructions from Oracle at RCU

    • RCU utility requires credentials for a dba superuser account (“sa” for MS SQL or “sys as sysdba” for Oracle)

    https://docs.oracle.com/en/applications/enterprise-performance-management/11.2/hitis/creating_infrastructure_schemas_using_repository_creation_utility.html

    RCU Final Step

    Manually edit the RCUSchema.properties file• Location -

Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\config\11.1.2.0\RCUSchema.properties• Note that passwords are exposed until configuration. They are encrypted at that point.• Required step on each server where Oracle Weblogic Components live• Doc for updating the file can be found here …RCU Schema Prop File update

  • Navigating the Oracle EPM 11.2 Upgrade 22Confidential & Proprietary

    Other Thoughts

    • Aside from RCU, the install and config are very similar to previous versions.• EPM version 11.2 utilizes Essbase version 11.1.2.4.033, Oracle Hyperion

Provider Services Release 11.1.2.4.033 and Oracle Hyperion Essbase Administration Services 11.1.2.4.031.

    • Users will see the same features and functionalities using Essbase EPM version 11.2. The eventual path is to Essbase19C but looks to be further out on the horizon.

    • The End User experience is nearly identical for the EPM stack
