derwater systems technology will be recognized for the highest academic achievement at the NPS spring quarter graduation today.
Lt. Peter B.R. Suthon earned his engineer degree in mechanical engineering. He will also receive a master of science degree in mechanical engineering. Suthon won the Monterey Peninsula Council Navy League A ward for Highest Academic Achievement, presented quarterly to the graduating Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration student who has excelled academically.
The school will graduate 235 students, awarding 209 master of science degrees. Three students earned their doctorate degrees, 23 their master of art's degrees, with

In response to a request from the NPS Supervisors Association, Rep. Leon Panetta has introduced a bill to include federal employees of Monterey County in the proposed locality pay differential plan.

No Names upset 'A' league teams for NPS summer basketball title
Dreams came true on June 11 for the "B" league basketball team No Names as they upset the "A" league team Obliate Spheroids in the summer league tournament.
Two "A" league teams were beaten in the final seconds of the tournament to give No
ames the court bragging rights. Their secret to winning focused on teamwork, according to player/coach Tom Cusmina. "Each player reached inside himself for that extra effort that made the difference throughout the tournament."
The No Name lineup is: Mark Garrow, Rolly Yardley, Frank Novack, Tom Cusmina, Jami Jeffers, Chris Meyer, Bill Camey, Sid Calloway and Kelly Richards.
Soccer A junior high school age soccer team will
be formed in August, and it needs an experienced coach.
La Mesa junior soccer begins in September and coaches and assistant coaches are needed. If you can help with the coaching, please contact Mary Anne Schneider at 372-2744 after 5 p.m.

Golf The Central Pacific Sports Conference is
holding a men's and women's golf tournament on July 19-22 at Mare Island Naval Shipyard Golf Course in Vallejo. All active duty military are eligible to compete.
This year's qualifying round will be 18 holes with the low 16 scores advancing in the men's open round, and the low eight scores advancing in the men's senior division and women's division. Winners will be determined on all 72 holes.

Royal Ugly Dudes pounded the Wildcats 20-3 to take the title.
The Mixed Nuts took on the Seaslugs in the National League with Mixed Nuts coming out ahead 7-4 for the league championship.
